No preferences.txt
I searched everywhere for my preferences.txt and it simply is not there. I am using Vista 64 bit if that helps. Is it possible to create a text document and just copy and paste the data into it? If it is, could someone give me a vanilla copy of it?

Re: No preferences.txt
Vista is a strange thing. I have it and use it without problems!
The first thing that you want to do is turn off the User Account Control (UAC) this can be done by clicking: The start button, control panel, under user accounts and family safety section there is a link to add or remove user account, click it, click Go to the main user account page (bottom of screen), then click Turn User Account Control on or off. At the next screen if the UAC is on then take the checkmark out of the box!
After this Vista will let you see and change the information in any file. If none of this works click the start
button then at the bottom of the menu there is a bar that says start search. Type preferences into that bar, if you own more than one Total War title then multipule preferences options will appear. If you only own RTW then only one preference option will appear.
To distingush between different Total War titles preferences's files right click the file then click properties to find the right Total War file that you want to change.
After turning off the UAC save games are not playable until the UAC is enabled again! I hope this helps because everyone should be able to enjoy a mod this good to its full potential!

Re: No preferences.txt
Happened to me and I figured it out with some help.
1) Turn on 'View Hidden Files/Folders'.
2) Go to here: C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Rome - Total War\preferences\
There ya go
