    Default Protectorates

This has always mystified me, when a faction becomes your protectorate what actually happens other than it says they are your protectorate? Also are protectorates the same on RS as on vanilla? Sorry for all the questions, it's just always bugged me not knowing .

Hmm, when they become a protectorate, the two of you automatically have trade rights, alliance and give each other military access.

Other than that, there isn't much. You're probably better off taking their settlements for yourself. Furthermore, the AI will probably get around to attacking you later anyway.

Don't they give you a fair bit of their income per turn? Or am I getting confused with MTW again?

And there's no "enemy zone of control" between you and the other faction. In other words, you can go with your army and stand right next to them, and simply walk away again. Quite useful.
    Vale,
