    Default Generals/sons wont marry

Playing as England about 50 turns in I can't get ANY of my generals/sons to marry, no one offers their daughters at all. Anyone know what I could do because I'm facing extinction in near future .

Also, what are the mechanics behind royal marriages and how you get offers? Searching thru literally dozens of tutorials, there's zero info.

I can't answer your questions, but I can say you'll probably start getting "Man of the Hour" and adoption events which, if you are facing extinction, you'll want to accept.

btw there are many princesses walking around, in France and Italy, visible, but even if I put my generals next to them for few turns - nothing. sigh, damn women!

    Hello patrician772,

I think I may be able to help. Firstly, Foreign Princesses will only offer to marry your Faction Leader or Faction heir, so if you are trying to get them to marry someone else, it won't happen. Secondly, instead of placing your generals near them, be proactive and engage in diplomacy with the desired Princess (via diplomat), and select the option "Marry Princess to Faction Heir/Faction Leader", under the "Make Demands" title. In my experience, they usually agree.

Another potential reason why you are having difficulty marrying off generals is the game's stupid formula that attempts to make sure you have roughly the same number of Generals as you have provinces. This makes sure the game doesn't offer marriages when it percieves that you have at least 1 general per province. It is really stupid, I know, but I think it's hardcoded, or at least difficult to change.

So, my advice for getting marriage and heirs would be:
    1. Find high charm princesses with diplomats and get them to marry your FL or FH (personally, I make sure that I NEVER marry my FH to anyone except a foreign princess)
    2. Conquer more territories. The game will start to realise you don't have enough generals, and you will start to get marriage/adoption offers and babies.
    3. If you want to increase your chances of having children, select a general (must be outside a city), open the cheat console and type: give_trait this Fertile 3 .
    4. Once you get the Fortress level stables (Baron's Stables I think), you can recruit generals manually. They're not a part of your family tree though

If you have any more questions, or want clarification, feel free to ask

There is a set family member:regions controlled ratio. If you aren't getting any marriage offers or new children born, conquer a few more regions and the offers/children will start up again.

The marriage offer does not come under Demands, but Offers. It will either say "Marry princess to Faction Heir/Leader" or "Marry Faction Heir/Leader to princess".

A couple of weeks ago I married off my Heir to a charming girl from Novgorod thinking that she'd make babies for my Royal line. Much to my surprise and dismay he took off for Novgorod and the last time I looked he was cutting a path of destruction through northern Poland.

Huh? Are you saying that you married a Princess, but he joined the other faction, or have I just misunderstood? I didn't even think that was possible.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. I finally intercepted the Princess with my Diplomat near Milan and the General in question was based in Dijon or Rheims. I didn't think it was possible either...
