does the start screen still incorrectly list the version as 3.4, or do I have a problem with my install?

You probably put the patch in the wrong directory. It should read 3.5.

i am cutting the icon and folder inside the patch, and pasting it into the ExRM folder. likewise for the data folder for the hotfix.

I can enter the game fine, but whenever I select a faction (romans) and start the campaign, the game holds, then goes back to the screen to pick campaign.

Whenever I quit the game, I get an error that says db_briton_ slingers missing.

using steam, with RTR 6.2 sound mod, and have done st. augs checklist. second time on a fresh install of RTWG, exrm 3.5 hotfix

I just captured Segovia in central Iberia, and noticed that it has zero trade. No roads in or out. You can see one road start to move west from the town, but it stops short of the next province. Is this intentional, to represent an isolated mountain town?

Edit: never mind, figured it out. Once I captured Ulisaypo to the west and built roads there, that little stub road from Segovia magically extended across the border

Looking to return to the good ol' extended realism with the 3.5. Question, is the trait-system still in place? Meaning that generals can give traits to other generals? Or am I mixing this with some other mod?

That's a hard-coded RTW feature if I'm not mistaken. So it more than likely still is present in ExRM

Ohhhh, so that's what's going on! I've had a real hot-house academic thing going in Roma, 8 young students all learning in the same city. Suddenly one of them decides that he's a Lover of Beauty. Next thing I know half of them have picked up this trait, including two who had the makings of good generals. Arrgh!

Time to build some Sciptoriums out in the provinces, send the bast... I mean "impressionable young things"... out there to learn on their own

??? The only differences in our trait system from normal RTR are as follows:
    1) Temples give slightly more varied bonuses now
    2) Negative traits don't propagate like weeds
    3) Enemy Camp Captured gives you money for routing the enemy if their army is large enough
    4) Romans have a leadership system where you progress through the ranks over time

    Were you thinking of #4?

I was actually referring to the "drag and drop" function to move traits from one FM to another

You mean dragging-and-dropping retinue, right? Not the acquired traits.

    Yeah whatever

I never use the function myself so I wouldn't know what exactly can be dragged/dropped. All I know is that it had something to do with a characters personality

I think everything can be dragged and dropped. There seems to be only one exception (that I can think of): the churigeon seems to be incompatible with a herbalist and vice versa.

The actual traits themselves, like Lover of Beauty, I think depend on other factors such as money availible and what buildings are present in a settlement etc.

Hmmm...what about moving Antiochus to the Galatia region and causing those two to fight? That strikes me as historical. I could move Euthydemus to where Antiochus is now, and give the Galatians more troops. And I'll try moving the Armenian spy to near Mtksheta first and see how that goes.
Yeah that could work. How do you change the start location for these things?? I could muck about with it as well.

All of those locations are specified in descr_strat.txt (the BI one, unless you're using RTW.exe or Alex.exe, in which case it's the Imperial Campaign one). I would edit those with a copy of map_regions.tga (in base) opened up so you can figure out where to put them.

Oh yes, retinue. I was thinking of the drag and drop - thing, sorry I didn't make myself clear. I never really used that a lot, didn't really consider it realistic and was kind of hoping that it wasn't there anymore in this mod. Remember using it in Europa Barbarorium I think. And there's some other way of sharing traits...? Oh well, I guess there's a lot I still don't know about this game.

It's cool. I recommend reading this thread, as he seems to have the same problem you're having: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=309752

Like him, my guess is that you're dragging and dropping the patch to the wrong directory.

    btw, welcome to the board!
