I don't have any DLC except the Special Forces and Pre-Order units. And ETW hasn't been updated within the last few weeks due to internet problems

Ok so you have not updated the game since when exactly as there was an update back in December with the DLC units of the West??
Have you got all the packs downloaded as per the installation?

Install Order:
1 - Install TAR Mod (required)
2 - Install any Updates (required, if available)
3 - Install any HotFixes (required, if available)
4 - Install any UPC Updates (required, if available)
A - (optional) Install TAR 24-bit Textures
B - (optional) Install TAR Booster Pack

It last updated with the Elite Units of the West, yes. Is there a hotfix I need for that?

Yes, use the current Hotfix on the front page and that should start the game for now till we get sorted in TAR 2.0

ok guess I found temporarily solution..I removed the patch4 from the data folder and TAR works again

yes you are right, my bad didn't read the whole thread, I thought that hotfix is just for DLC players..then I installed it in data folder, and added the follow line in TAR user scripts..now it works fine

ok so i read through some of the pages and i didnt see this any advice for the problem i have. so i finally got the mod to download and install properly, andnow when i click on the desktop icon the start screen comes up, but then when i try and play a custom game i get this mod TAR_GC_1783.pack;

mod TAR_BSM.pack;
mod TAR_Core.pack;
mod TAR_Custom.pack;
mod TAR_Update.pack;
mod TAR_IND.pack;
mod TAR_UnitsPack.pack;
mod TAR_Sounds.pack;
mod TAR_Music.pack;
mod TAR_Chat.pack;
mod TAR_BMusic.pack;

and then when i try and play the grand campaign it starts up vannila empire total war, but then chrashes and i get a messege that says "Empire Total War has Stopped Working"

so sorry this post is so long but what have i done wrong, because i cant play the game i can just go through all the options.

Let me get this straight you downloaded all of the mods in correct order like this?

Install Order:
1 - Install TAR Mod (required)
2 - Install any Updates (required, if available)
3 - Install any HotFixes (required, if available)
4 - Install any UPC Updates (required, if available)
A - (optional) Install TAR 24-bit Textures
B - (optional) Install TAR Booster Pack

Have you checked the "advanced options" in the menu and enable "TAR Diagnostics" that should get the game to work

I installed and played this fantastic mod on Sunday and since yersteday it is not working anymore and got the same message that says "Empire Total War has Stopped Working"
I uninstalled the mod and reinstalled it, I have the "unit_pack_compatibility_project_v5_5".
I did the "TAR Diagnostics" et reset it reboot the computer... Nothing.
I really do not know what is happening
fortunately I can still play the Basic ETW but it is like something is missing after this week-end playing AWI mod.

I f you have a solution could you make it simple because I am not smart in computer when it goes to technical.

I'm getting a crash everytime I try to play. Vanilla ETW is the only thing I have installed, fully patched. No DLCs but a crash everytime I start the game, the loading screen comes up but then when it is supposed to finish I get, "Empire Total War has Stopped Working"

Let me say my install order by the way. First I installed 1.3exe, then Update 7. Then Update 7d hotfix. Still nothing.

No thats incorrect, you must leave Patch4 in data folder and use hip63 hotfix for now as it is a smaller file to download and will get the game working following the instructions

So, Toon my problem stands as the one I told you about in the PM.

I installed everything in the correct order, yet it still is not working, it loads up Empire, then switches back to desktop and launches a black screen and then comes up with an "Empire Total war has experienced an error, etc, etc". Could you tell me what the mod puts into the data folder? There might be some stragglers left behind from the uninstall..?

I am thoroughly confused as to why it is not working.

My install order was:
1)TAR Installer
2)Update 7
3)update 7 hotfix
4)update 8
5)UPC 5.5
6)Booster pack

anything out of order?

Also, it says to install into the empire total war directory.. not the data folder(?)
Another thing is: should there be separate folders labeled "TAR" inside of the folders in the ETW main folders and the data folders?

You install all the mods into the empire folder and the installer will place all the mods in the correct place, and also you need to download the hotfix!!!! here: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=331150

That means corrupt download, re download the file from another mirror and install the mod wherever you have the game installed in your drive
