    Default Quick question on Hordes

Last Indie Gaul Settlement with all it's remaining family members inside, I take the settlement, everybody dies yet the faction still hordes, how come? I double checked and went round the map with FOW off, so unless they are in ambush and won't show up even with FOW disabled, I thought that should be the end of the faction. I'm sure that's how it's always happened up to now? Which factions can horde? I have recently destroyed Iberia and they didn't horde in similar circumstances.

IIRC the factions that can horde are Scythia, Parthia, the Gauls, the Independent Gauls, and the Germans. They will form a horde when they lose their last settlement, and won't die out completely until you destroy the horde.

Ok, even if all their family members are dead as a result of the last siege? Nuts!

If you kill the family members without taking the city, you kill the faction, but if you take the city while killing the family members, you get a horde.

Ah, ok, thanks. Well guess I shall just have to deal with it then, at least they are stuck in Ireland and can't go anywhere, just means a delay for me in returning my Legions back to mainland Europe.

If yu don't know about hordes, than it can be great fun. Unless it Scythia or Parthia, than it is just a pain in the arse.
As someone else said, it is annoying when that happens, in a last settlement, they form by themselves sometimes.

Hording is a lot of fun to do as a player though.
    Bored of your campaign?
Pack your things up, loose all settlements and pillage your way to the other side of the map.

My personal favourite is starting the indo-celtic kingdom, there's nothing like a stack with chosen swordmen AND elephants!

No, I mean playing as gauls, hording and moving all your stacks to India.

Once there, settle down and have fun!

Sorry if you already know but hordes will show up on the map as a star so if you have fog of war turned off you should be able to see them
