    Default Faction Heirs

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere.

First off, I absolutely love the mod; don't have any real complaints (other than when a Jihad is called on Constantinople for no reason and I get screwed for a few turns).

That being said, I have a question. I'm real into securing the lineage of my original king. I like to keep his family (sons, son's sons, etc.) kings as long as possible. So, currently (I'm the Byzantines) my original Emp died, his son ascended and he doesn't have any blood-sons, though he has an adopted son. Now, I don't want that adopted son to become Emp because he doesn't have the blood of the king in him. I instead, want the current Emp's brother to be Prince to continue the lineage.

Is there a file I can mod that will let me select/deselect who the heir will be? If not, it's not a huge deal; I'm just curious.

    Thanks!

I don't think there is a mod of what you're asking for.

    You can try this:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ight=bloodline

Failing the above, you can just send out the heir usurper to die--by boat or battle--until the rightful heir is crowned.

Isn't there a trait that covers this?
Jon had taken Donal and Benjen’s advice to heart: Sam may be fat and pathetic, but he is still a member of the watch, and one of the few black brothers who isn't a rapist or thief. (out of context, this sounds ridiculously racist)

No the FactionHeir trait doesn't actually determine who the faction heir is. Even if you use the console to give the trait to someone else, the game wont change who the heir is.

Never adopt with your heir unless he already has at least ONE son... Only reliable way of maintaining the succession. Otherwise you have to kill a ridiculous amount of family members to bring it back around to the royal family.

i normally am rather lucky, all of my family members always have at least 1 son,(in some cases, 4 male sons xD)and i NEVER, EVER adopt , and marry a princess that i cant control. The princessess i can control are used to marry english kings/princes.

If I may interject my ingorance for a sec....what's the big concern over the purity of the blodline? Do the adopted folks have lesser traits? Cuz many a game NONE of them are worth a lick...

It's mainly for roleplaying reasons. The adopted ones don't necessarily have lesser traits, but often do which is why I always make sure it's a young general who's at least got good traits before I adopt him. And usually I don't.

I almost always play dynasty games. And the rule of thumb is never adopt and never marry your princencess unless to their relatives (yes folk, keep it in the family)
That way if you have few family members and a big empire you'll experience a baby boom and your bloodline will be secured. If I start with a family that has only one son, I make sure through save/load that he will sire one son.

True. However after recently fighting the Mongols on my HRE (pushed back to my last city with 4 wars - France, (in the south) Papal States (in the North), Mongols and Kiev (in the west), I decided to just send a single stack, without generals, as I only had my heir and leader left.

1200 Men, mostly untrained, against 2400 minimum Silver Chevron and a 7 Dread general - lost 1137 Men, but managed to destroy these two hordes.

Naturally, got a Man of the Hour (who I then wed to a 6 Charm 21 year old Princess =D), who was 20 years old, a total of 3 Dread, +5 Command, Max Loyalty, and 6 Piety. Shortly after, the King Died, but the Faction Heir had a child, who came of age just before that. This guy was Academically minded - and I had a lot of gold for my HCav and Hinf Stacks, so didn't really need him. So, suicided him, and now have a new Faction Heir with Max Dread and +9 HP. Loved it, tbh.

Just a question - I have 2 boys and a girl from the Princess with the Bloodline Trait, does this continue over to the children, even though the father doesn't have it?

It should, it's royal blood that runs through their veins; diluted as it might be.

I am the same, the royal dynasty must live on. I never adopt. Really hate that one should be adoptet after winning a battle, can't he just be promoted to General?

I am awer that modding to chose faction heir thing is hard, but can it be fixt so that does Familymebers that have no royal blood can not become kings or faction heirs? Only when the Dynasty has been killde.
