I'm sure there'd be support for a balkans campaign - do you have any preference for a map to play on?
Or will you be doing your own?
what sort of dates?

Well I do scripting and research so i'd throw my full support behind a Balkan minimod if one existed. I was thinking maybe several mini campaigns sort of like the Alexander expansion for Rome, where one factions is slightly biased in terms of military superiority, or perhaps one campaign overwhelming negative influences on the current favorite (Bulgaria/Vlachs)faction such as outdated military advances, loyalty issues and civil wars to lead to their imperial collapse, making room for the new favorite (Magars) to emerge in style, and make its mark on the era.. The Balkans have a long history of birthing empires that disintegrate rapidly into independent city states, so I really believe that MTW2 does this region great injustice by not even providing a single real Balkan state. The Magyars are hardly a Balkan people in origin. I am of French and Ukrainian ethnicity and I feel there is MORE than enough focus on the major players typically associated with Medieval Europe. It's time these nations were truly given a chance in this game. I think you'll notice the gap in campaign eras, and this results from a massive a

A sub-mod like this would not work with Stainless Steel. Since SS has already reached the faction, unit, and region limit, you wouldn't be able to make a SS mod like what you're describing. But you could do a mini-mod for just Kingdoms, separate from SS.
Well it depends, because you can edit the faction settings, banners, standards and rosters to fit your own.
It'd be best used on a mod like SV where there are a substantial amount of Balkan units already though.

using mof folders could allow a SS mini-mod like this.
it does however relate to an earlier era than the one SS currently covers.
it looks like it would need considerable work - are there enough modders around who will be able to make this a viable project?
I would love to see a mod like this come to fruition. The Balkans aren't an overlooked region, but there was plenty of conflict to make a great mod. I'd throw my hat in to make this mod.
I will add an easy to use campaign switcher in 6.2... would allow to place individual campaigns with all the stuff SS can give, but not really limited to it in most cases. Oh, its created in a way that you don't really need to add any code to the .exe, just need to add an entry in the .cfg file and all is ready to work.
After patch work is finished, maybe ill work a bit on a reconquista type campaign for SS.
That would be great, gracul. From your track record, i'd say I would most definitely be down to play that. As for the Balkan mini-campaign, i'm not opposed to further inquiries about it, but i've decided to throw my support behind Latinokratia for the time being, as it looks quite promising.

any new news about the mod?
If there is interest, I would gladly provide help with the Wallachian/Moldavian faction
I have suggested such a campaign for stainless steel 7.0.
I'm not sure exactly what area we need the map to cover but would this be acceptable?
(without a map it's not going to be able to anything - if we can agree on a map it might be possible to find someone to produce one for the campaign/s)

Map isn't problem at all - I did a map for Balkans (Serbia, Bulgaria, Wallachia) for some other mod (DLV), that was for my purpose only. Anyhow, there are several steps in order to make new factions:
- remove some irrelevant regions (there are plenty of those in southwestern Africa)
- add new ones in Balkans (again - in Serbia, Bulgaria and Bosnia, just to make things spicy)
- remove some of the factions (Ireland, Portugal f.e., 'cause those factions never did anything big in history; their greatest achievments was that they survived, while Serbia and Bulgaria were tsardoms etc.)
- add new factions (Serbia and Bulgaria in the first place)
- do the units.
I could do the first 4 steps, but I don't know how to make units (although some regular types like spearmen, archers, feudal knights etc, can easily be added). There are some great mods that can probably lend us units for Balkan factions - Tsardoms, Ferrum Aeternum. But, I don't know how to implement them. So, if anyone has the knowledge of creating units, banners and coat of arms - we could do buisness together. Pm me, and with th permission of the SS authorities, Balkan submod might be on it's way.
Btw, map that Rozanov has is of some mid 11th century, as it seems, since the Croatians didn't exist as an independent state from the end of that century. Also, seems as Bulgaria has swept off Byzantium (wtf?!). Better map shall be presented![]()
The only question is - which year would be suitable to start from?

Map posted was to suggest geographical extent of mod - not which factions should or shouldn't be represented.
Isn't Latinokratia a dead mod?
Either way I'd be happy to contribute research info on the Romans.
There's a mod focusing in the most parts on Balcans, The Great Conflicts.
It covers the century before SS and most mods represent though...
To say Portogal didn't do nothing in history compared with bulgars and serbians is a very, very bad atitude and let ppl to imagine is like this. What I will never understand why we must play with our "national" faction? Here in balkans we never was a real feudal system and I not have anything to make things more fun than feudal France. Before calling the nationalistic things learned in history class, imagine we have a super power named Byzantium and lot of faction in back of steppe horses, cumans, avars, bulgars and magyars.
