Mongols down to Iran with full force?!

This is just weird... I have never seen this kind of thing happening. I'm playing as Crusader States, recently killed off Byzantine and, Venice, and Sicily just has Naples. After Mongols spawned, they started besieging Khwarezmian settlements, but I never saw the message about them having a new homeland. So I turned on toggle_fow and this is what happened.

Mongols siege the settlement, then the settlement goes rebel, and Mongols just ignore that settlement and walk up to the next horde target. They kept doing that and there's a long line of rebel settlements right in the middle of Khwarezm territory. Now they are around Kermanshah, and I'm quite sure they will come fore Baghdad, which is my city. I thought I will have to deal with Mongols after Khwarezms stopped them, but I guess I will have to take the full brunt of Mongol invasion. It's just weird that I never saw something like that happening.

But that is surprising they did not stop on Khiva or one of the eastern cities. I think this is scripted, that they don't stop on a settlement unless it is a large or a huge city ? Can someone confirm (or deconfirm) this ?

It probally has something to do with the horde AI, I don't know any scripting commands to achieve this.

Yeah it sounds like your horde targets are messed up. For me they usually take out northern Syria, then turn west into Turkey and north into the crimea and ukraine.

If it bugs you you can probably easily fix it by asking someone with knowledge of these matters ;p

It is obvious that horde AI is much more stronger and subtle in this new SS 6.2 for sure.

Because of my war with Hungary I can only spare around 15 full stacks against Mongols. I hope I will be able to stop them from reaching Jerusalem. By the way I didn't know RR/RC also changed Mongol roster. Last time I dealt with them I didn't have RR/RC - now they are more accurately represented and also more powerful. I did call a crusade on Baghdad so this should give me some relief.

Btw the situation in Europe is quite interesting. Scots are pawning English hard - England ist going to be destroyed soon. Hungarians and Poles almost took the entire HRE, and are becoming superpower. It's all mess up in Russia, where practically every faction has war declared on one another except for the two Russian factions. Genoa is fighting against the alliance of Sicily, Venice, and Papal States, and is becoming a regional sovereign. They are also kicking French butts. Iberia is a lot messier. Moors once captured Leon and Lisbon and had 2/3 of Iberia in their control. I was worried that I might be the next target in North Africa so I called a crusade on Tunis and the power ratio is much more balanced there, without any emerging superpower.

Lol. Ive never seen it happen quite like that but this has happened to me before. Kwarizm abbidicated after a few turns after the mongols appeared. I say abdicated because they were winning but apparently the king and heirs were killed off in the same turn leaving the door open for the mongols to take the whole of Iran from the rebels. this happened to me as byzantium and had a empire like yours strtching from baghdad to venice. instead of taking the rebel settlements they came straight for me. i was the top five in all categories so i suppose they came after me because i was the strongest faction on the map and would not have to build up infrastrucutre as much. if i remember correctly the vandals and huns usually did the same thing in vanilla BI. nice empire btw tell us how the battle turns out.

i got hospitaller headquarter in Jerusalem, so I pump out those knights, along with occasional Canons of Holy Sepulcher, plus some Edessan Guards from advanced militia barracks.

Btw does anyone use Templar Confrere Knights? They cost 2500 to recruit, has 1250 maintenance per turn, and are slightly better than Feudal Knights. I never build stables with Crusader States because I just get that worthless crap.

Huh? what submods are you using?
Using PB's RR/RC mod, my Confrere Knights cost 1105 to recruit, and 200 upkeep..

Unless you're thinking about the Constable of Jerusalem. Those guys cost 2595 to recruit, and have an upkeep of 1200. They're free upkeep in Jerusalem though, and actually has twice as many units as regular cavalry units!

Yeah i had the same after I downloaded the new RC/RR, the same with the Teutons, they walked to Brugge and started war with the HRE and Norway :/

It took me usually like 3:2 ratio to kill Mongols. When I put in 4 stacks against 2, I will kill them all (2000) but lose around 2500-3000. So I started to go in 4 stacks against 1 or 6 against 2 - movement increase from Crusade let me pick on isolated stacks with ease.

lol you can get fifteen stacks when you control jerusalem/constantinople/venice the big three as i like to call them. if you take all of northern italy you could pull of 20 or more. i think we've all hust seen the preview of the battle of armageddon, the only thing missing is a blood stained jesus. Lol

I actually think Crusader States is the easiest faction once you survive initial 30 turns. I'm having much harder time as Scotland this time. By the time Mongols came along I had territories up to Sofia/Skpopje - as Scots I had Britain and Bruges.

It starts at holy lands, one of the richest areas on the map, and also gain Egypt quite early, which is another richest area in the game. By securing good relations with Khwarezm there is no need to worry about war on multiple front, as the only other faction to fight against would be Normans, and they are not very difficult to fight off. Kill Byzantines, your next logical target, then you have access to another richest area. With these three super economy area you can pump out units. Also the units are mostly religious order, so their upkeep is ridiculously cheap, around 150-200 for late professional quality. Access to Turkish horse archers makes the army composition also very balanced.
