Spearmen in RTRq

Hello all, I'm new to these boards and would like to say thank you for an excellent mod that really changes the way I look at RTW.

I had one question about the spearmen types in RTR:

I've noticed when playing as the Republic of Rome, Italian Spearmen (and those like them) seem to fight in almost an extremely compact formation, I don't have a picture of this but it seems like, for instance, 120 spearmen are all tightly grouped into one small "line" with the frontmost line doing the fighting and the back seemingly just "pushing up" against the rest of their unit and creating what looks like a pancake if I click on them to see the green arrows of their formation. No other units seem to do this other than spearmen types. Was wondering if anyone else ever saw this before, I am using RTR platinum for RTW 1.5.

Do you know if you maybe have the shield-wall function enabled for them? That's a button (the special action button) in the bottom right corner of your battle user interface...

I think 'shield wall' is a special ability available in RTW BI and not RTW which the OP is playing.

Please post a screen shot to illustrate what you are referring to.
