    Can changing a settlement's name during play affect scripts? I mean for instance, if I rename Constantinople to Istanbul, will a script that mentions Constantinople stop working?

    I used to think that it definitely would. But when I was writing a script the other week involving settlement names, the game needed the value from the settlement name lookup file rather than the name that is shown in the game. Not sure if that is the same for every way that a settlement's name can be called in a script. You might want to post this in the Mod Workshop.

    not 100% but i'm pretty sure that script cannot be edited while in a current campaign.

    So, essentially the game will continue to see the settlement as "Constantinople" even if I rename it inside the game, correct? In other words I can do so without (too much) worry of messing things up?

    It can't but carolampio is talking about renaming settlements from within the game, not editing the script

    As I described above it would seem that way but more testing is required to see if all the ways that the settlement name can be called in the script work in the same way or not.
