Default 'Windows is searching for RomeTW.exe, to locate the file yourself, click browse'

    Ok.

First of all - Hello all.

    Now to my point..

I uninstall my copy of rtw from control panel, I then go to program files, and delete the activision folder and all its contents, then delete them from the recycle bin

I install my copy of rtw to my pc (its version 1.5, it came with BI, and Alexander as one package)

From this, I install RTR Platinum Edition 1.9

When its installed there are 3 RTR logos on my desktop

    1 that says RTR Plat

1 that says Multiplayer battle reset

1 that says rtr platinum BI

I click the rtr Plat logo, and I get the message I posted in the title, after a few seconds searching it says

'the item rometw that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly'

'Nearst match based on size, date, and type: 'C:\Program Files (x86)\ The Creative Assembly\...\RomeTW.exe

Do you want to fix this shortcut to point to this target or do you just want to delete it?'

Obviously, If I click fix, this will make the shortcut start the vanilla copy of rtw

Im at a real loss here...can anyone help me?

sorry if this has been a bit incoherent, its so frustrating!

    *EDIT*

I have looked through a few others threads and seen I should have moved the file to the creative assembly folder.

Yes I have gotten it to play and everything seems fine

Although one thing I don't want to open up another thread for

On the RTR site there is a link to add-ons

there is a music add-on for Gold, but not for Platinum

Is this because there is no music/sounds?

When I am playing I get no music- apart from the start up video, and no SFX of any kind either

any idea what the cause could be?

It has been about 3 years since I first played rtr so I can't remember if there ever was sfx! I was sure there was though..

Yes, you probably have a newer version of RTW. Since Sega took over the game installs in a The Creative Assembly folder instead of the Activision folder of the older versions. RTR 6/RTRPE was made before that happened so the default path on the RTRPE installer is to the Activision folder. Since you don`t have the game there the new desktop shortcut is not able to find the executable. When you chose to "fix" it you`ve basically connected the new RTRPE shortcut to the executable of the game which had not been modded. Hence you started the vanilla RTW.

EDIT: do a search in the RTRPE sub-forum for the lack of sound. It`s something connected to the mod switch version of RTRPE iirc. You should have sound in RTRPE. And the music addon btw should work with it too. It`s just a matter of installing it in the right place depending on what version of rtrpe you have(mod switch or regular).
