    Default Faster AI turns

It's not just another thread asking why the turns are slow.. I've searched and read that other people (hell, almost everyone) experience this.

Some guys found a good way to make the turn times way faster, by removing some things that occurs duing the turns. Now they even uploaded the modified campaign_script.txt, but since the posts are like a year old or so, i would think that they would not work with the newest version (6.2).

So im asking if any out there can remove all these non-important things that is being monitored duing AI turns.. I really just want it to be faster. If you want, i would be glad if you modified the 6.2 campaign_script.txt and uploaded it.

Also... Will i have to make a new game?

    Thanks in advance

A new campaing, yes, for the campaing_script.txt is used to start up the campaign, as is everything in the base or imperial_campaign folder.

No. I'm not a skilled scripter, nor planning to become one.

Turn times can't be reduced much anyway. Best to run mtw in windowed mode and surf the net on turn time...

I don't think his problem is that ai moves slowly but that the ai calculations and such take a long time to perform. (I know it I had to remove BGRIV because the turns took more than 2 minutes)

I've heard that turning off campaign shadow can help but I really don't know if it's true

Turning off campaign shadows only improves performance on the campaign map in general. I dont think it improves the AI turn length because it only affects graphics processing rather than the processing of the script & factions.

I often wonder when I see people talking about turn times whether they have "Show AI Movement" turned on or off. That alone reduces turn times from up to, and more than, 10 minutes to 2-3 minutes at most.

my turnrs take a minute tops. Do you hit "spacebar" so that the avatars on the campaign map move instantly?

my best tip for improve AI turns time.

Make your movements before pressing the "end turn button" so your screen doesnt move.

And put the screen on some "water and almost-no-rendering work four your pc" corner.

Can cut times to 1/2 =). (unless some AI movement takes your attention and your screen moves xD)

PD: Also interested in those campaign_script disabling some notifications (i only read revolt ones )

OP, you need a big manly CPU and processor. Thats basically why your turns are slow.

Ive noticed this myself before my comp got gutted and stuffed full of rainbows and sunshine. With my new motherboard, 4 gigs of ram, new power supply and heat-sink, and of course my 9800 GT graphics card and finally new processor, i dont really have this problem.

While that likely doesnt help you at all, a smart thing to do would be:
    1. run a defrag of your hard drive, using the windows defragmenter or a program, the only real difference is the time it takes.
    2. remove old space consuming files.
    3. close programs which bother and use up the CPU's power. These can include web pages, open folders, msn, xfire, or what have you. Cntrl-Alt-Delete can be helpful in figuring out what unimportant programs you have running.

    Hope this helps.

There are alot of things that can make the turn times seem slow. As a few people have mentioned u should do a d-frag and close all programs u dont need running under alt tab. If u are using byg, that could be the cause and i do believe there is an update for that. I have found that by removing the ancillaries for the citys as i wanted more room for the other ones and by removing the notifications for fall of settlement, death messages and Princess comes of age it will turn alittle faster as less things to go over in script. I have noticed a difference. Just look in your script, its not hard to dont forget to make a back-up copy !!

May not be a way to make the turns go faster, but it will definitely make your life go faster if your still in school. End your turn, start your homework. Do a certain part of the homework, look up, wow yourself and do your next turn. If you have to type stuff, your screwed...but handwritten things will be your new friends. Your screwed for battles though, all those nasty heavy text books just get in the way.

Thanks for all the tips guys, appareciate the help.
Although im an 'expert' in optimizing Windows for maximum performance so i guess its not that, but just that my CPU isnt THAT fast enough.. All i was looking for was to disable those checks it does (whos dead, princesses, ect) while turning. Heard it could help. My turn time is not THAT bad (certainly less than a minute) but if it can be improven, i'd like to but programs and things like that shouldnt be the issue im quite well covered on that part
