Default want Brutii village to look different to Julii one

Is it possible to have a faction, not a culture, have it's own strat map settlement models, or is it only a per culture thing? There is a comment in one of the text files associated with strat map settlement models that indicates it is possible to have separate settlement models for faction or culture.

For example, say I want the roman factions to each have different models for strat map settlements, is that possible. I want a Brutii village to look different to a Julii village. Can it be done? or must they be separate cultures?

    It is a cultural thing.

Though if you have a combination of an unused settlement level/culture (ie: X culture doesn't have huge cities - or: no culture has huge cities and X culture doesn't have large cities too), or a completely unused culture, you can use those 'slots' to suit your needs.

    Thanks for answering.

Hmm, I am not sure I entirely get you. Does this mean that if the culture is the same, but you don't have a huge city in the culture, that slot can be taken and used as the village level for another faction of the same culture? Maybe I'll have to experiment to work it out exactly.

here's the quote from the descr_sm_settlements.txt:
; Specify all settlement data that is keyed on culture and settlement level.
; Currently, just strategy map model and UI card.
; (Anything else required may have to be specified as a separate block - eg, anything that is per-faction
; rather than per-culture, or doesn't depend on level .)
The last line seems to hint at being able to specify buildings at the faction level for the strat map. I guess you guys would have already played around with stuff like that, though.

    Example:

nomad culture's huge_city level is unused
    berbers is a nomad faction
in desr_strat, you set the faction_creator of settlement-X (which is a roman huge_city) to be the berbers
settlement-X will be using the nomad huge_city strat-map model

You could do that with other levels as well, but you would have to make sure the settlements are not-upgradable, otherwise the models would be replaced by the owning faction culture's models when the upgrade occurred.
