Default RTR Platinum 1.9 not working

So I have RTW, I followed the steps and patched 1.3, then 1.5 - then I installed RTR 1.9 Platinum. The game loads up as it should, I can click on all the options etc - but when I go to start a campaign - nomatter what faction - it just cancels itself back to the desktop.

So I tried starting up RTW to see if it works, and it just autoloads RTR, which subsequently, doesn't load a game.

And it's not my computer - I play RTW a lot, and it works perfectly and beautifully.

If you have installed the non mod switch version of RTRPE than you`ll not be able to play vanilla RTW from the same game folder because it overwrites the game`s files unlike the mod switch version that installs in a separate sub-forum.
As for your crash. Have you deleted the map.rwm files? There should be a new icon on your desktop with the rtrpe logo called something like campaign map reset or something like this. Use it and it will delete the file automatically. Alternatively go inside your Rome - Total War folder and you should find a file called campaign_map_reset. Double click it. Then start the campaign and hopefully it will work.

Actually while I was making this thread I just re-installed RTR, and now it works seemingly fine. *knock on wood*.

I might as well ask my back up question here, though.
Say for whatever reason I want to play RTW again, would it allow me to re-install it again with a different directory, or would I have to get rid of RTR altogether?

You`ll probably have to reinstall the game if the version of RTRPE you have is not the mod switch one. There are two versions:
    - the regular one that overwrites the game`s files. What you can do in this case is make a copy of the whole game folder before installing the mod and place it in the same generic folder(Activision or The Creative Assembly depending on your game version). Name the new game folder something different(like RTR for example) and then direct the mod installer towards it. This would leave you with a clean game folder too which you`ll be able to keep as a backup and multiply again if you`d want to.
    - the mod switch version of rtrpe which installs in its own sub-folder and does not overwrite the game`s files. You`ll be able to play it, vanilla rtw and any other completely modfoldered mods from the same game folder. The worry here would be not to install a non mod switch mod in the same game folder or mod the files of the main game because it will have repercussions on all the mod foldered mods installed in there.
