    Default Your favorite economic regions?

    Hi All.
Do you know which area is the most wealthy regions (florin count)?
And which of them is your favorite, your target of invasion ?

    Personally, I would suggest:

    • Holyland sea trade (Jerusalem*, Antioch, Alexandria, Iconium)
    • Black sea (Kiev*, Caffa, Sinop and Constantinople**)
    • Northen Italy (Genoa, Venice, Florence, Rome)
    • English channel (London*, York, Bruges)
    • Baltic sea (Novgorod*, Riga, Visby, Nykoeping)

I think that the inland cities are not that rich, with exception of Vienna, Frankfurt and Nuremburg
The far North East (the Cuman) regions are exceptionally poor

Constantinople hands down. With trade from both the Black Sea and the Aegean you can make a ton of cash.

Vienna is quite rich due to good mining opportunities.
Stockholm was quite economical in Vanilla, and I believe that it's in SS too.
Spanish, Portugal and Nort African cities are very rich, such as Marrakesh, Fes, Granada, Lissabon, Murcia, Tripoli and Leon.

Yes, I've seen Constantinople doing 8000 florins per turn, but in the same time it's the weakness of Byzantine Empire. Seljuks always invade it, and when Constantinople is lost, the whole empire is (almost) lost and Seljuks become very strong due to their big amount of money.

Well, I saw that many of you intersted in and play as the Byzantum.
Before, I like the Baltic region more. In the original M2TW, Stockholm can make more than 10k, weathier than Constantinople. But Stockholm is not in SS 6.2

Now, I really enjoy the Holyland with the big 4 cities I mentioned. Jerusalem can produce 8k, still less than Constantinople (10k), but the combination of the 4 is quite big.

Constantinople is easily the most productive.

In the Holy Lands, I'd also add Cairo which makes quite a decent amount.

I actually think the best region is probably the Italian peninsula which gets trade from essentially everywhere. Plus it's cool having Rome.

While it's always profitable, I'm noticing in my current English campaign that sea trade in the Eastern Mediterranean is currently (~1320) exceptionally strong. I would add Alexandria to the list of profitable cities (Cairo doesn't have a port on the Med) and the sea lanes between Alexandria and all the ports up to about Adana are packed, I have never seen so many trade ships, in fact there are so many that my PC slows down when I first move to that area, something that rarely happens on the Campaign Map. It might have something to do with the entire Eastern Med, from Ragusa to Benghazi, being controlled by the Fatamids and Byzantines... After the imminent Plague I'm going to have to make my way down to that part of the world for a slice of the action.
I'm currently playing as England, and after hammering the Scots the Pope went medieval on my ass and booted me out of the God club. Next thing I know, I have dirty foreigners landing on my shores from wierd and far-flung countries. - Sargon_of_Akkad

Novgorod is very rich, too. In my last Teutonic Order Campaign Novgorod produced way more than Constantinople.

Nella Terra di Mordor, dove l'Ombra nera scende.
Un Anello per domarli, un Anello per trovarli,
Un Anello per ghermirli e nel buio incatenarli.
Nella Terra di Mordor, dove l'Ombra cupa scende.

just take over the italian peninsula and marseille, and from then on you get a tonne of cash, especially if you convert some of the castles to cities, like Bari

Constantinople. In less than 50 turns, I had it making 8k per turn!

Also, in my current Venetian campaign, Venice is making around 6k, so that will only get bigger

I have also found that, against my expectations, Iraklion is not very profitable. As a HUGE city, it only makes around 1k per turn for me, and costs me more money than it takes to maintain. Any suggestions as to how it can become better, or is it always this poor?

Venice alone earns me 9k/turn; me playing as TO (after 90 turns of late period SS6.2 RC4). My capitole is located at Krakow though, and Vienna is second with only 4,5k / turn...... So norther italy is very rich but especially Venice.

But my biggest income i ever made was playing KoJ (SS6.1 / late period). Just before the great plague it reached 10k/turn (it was my capitole). Antioche gave me 6-7k at the same time (which is still very nice). So Holy lands is also a very profitable region.

Also in a recent game, playing as Lithuania i moved my capitole to London, developed everything and my income in London was 8k/turn and 5-7k in Bruges, Groeningen and Ahrus. So this was also very good.

Constantinople also regularly reached 6-7k/turn when i possess it.

I think it all depends on where is your capitole located and what hero is leading the city. When i have achieved 8-10k/turn always the ruler of the city had like 2-3 noble titles and 6+ in chivalry
But from what i have experienced, cities with harvest and explorers guilds always tends to be richer than cities without this.

Are you using the newest RR/RC Compilation? From memory I can't turn Iraklion into a metropolis, only a large city. I'm guessing one reason why it's making so little is you don't own the nearby cities/don't have trade rights. If not, no idea

It's not just the one city that's important, it's that city's trading partners. Constantinople is very good by itself but when you also build up Nicea-Thessolonica-Athens & Symna (excuse the spelling) you create such an economic powerbase that world conquest is easy. Second level sea trade & highways are the key.

In Iberia/North Africa use Marrakesh-Fes-Cordoba-Lisbon-Leon & for Italy it's Venice-Genoa-Bologna-Milan-Pisa (Florence). The Middle East is a litttle more spread out with castles in the way but you can figure it out. The Baltic Sea is tougher yet but still potentially good.

I think Visby can be quite wealthy, with access to all the ports of the baltic and silver to export.
