I am just going to put some facion match ups that I think are fair.

1. Macedon & Seleucids(with cata limit) & Carthage & Pontus

2. Rome/Rome/Rome/Rome

3. Spain & Gaul

4. Parthia & Armenia

5. Armenia and Scythia

Cata v Virgins = Virgins

Cata archers v Scythian nobles = cata archers

pikes and loads of horse archers.

I think that they are roughly equal.

But yes, this was the most dubious of my choices.

on 15 k cata archers arent used as main HA force. you get cata, HA, Hvy spearmen, archers and arab cav most of the time. scythians usually take maidens, 2 HA 1 possibly long range, Chosen archers, Barbarian archers and some peasants. and maybe some wardogs to counter HA.. but thats rarely used.. Scythia is a counter for Armenia.

If you a good scythian player you could very easely counter armenia. Look at this video when i was playing as the scuthians and one of my clan mates is playing as armenia, 15k cwb rules and he had a ton of upgrade on his catas:

But remember that scythia has a big archer advantage so camels plus fire arrows vs maidens and superior missile fire...who wins? I really dont think the poor camels will.

I more like fighting battles that my rival have superiority. It is more fun and challenging. If your opponent wins he does the obvious but if you win then you played well

nice sig. i like that game. one of me mates is gonna get me the RTW mod for that.. anyway i usually play normal armies unless the opponent is known to suck. then i take factions like Thrace, Gaul and Germania

Yeah Armenia and Scythia were awful. I was just clutching at straws there based on the Armenian pikes pretty much.

I think that the others are reasonable though.

I just based them on what I would consider a fair match-up if I were host. They are not meant to be exact, like as in Pontus has access to chariots etc., but that does not neccessarily tip the balance inexorably in Pontus' favour.
