Gold is definitely antiquated right now. Stick with Platinum.
I don't know offhand about TIC.

Unfortunately you wont find any RTR players if you don't set up a match before hand. Though there are rumors of a FOE MP-league after the release

are FOE and TIC improvements on platinum or something entirely different, like an expansion?

RTR PE (platinum) is RTR 6 Gold ported to run on RTW 1.5 and/or RTW BI 1.6. RTR 6 Gold only works with RTW 1.2.Originally Posted by Legio_Italica

If you are looking for opponents in MP then RTR PE is probably the best bet. However, finding anopponent may be a bit of a struggle.
RTR VII TIC had a period of being popular as MP but I've personally not played that for quite a few months.
