    Default Paranoia

    Hey lads.

Wasn't really sure if its a relevant topic for discussion or not but I had to tell someone as I find it quite funny or disturbing(I am not sure yet), also it is kind of tied in with the game/mod so here it goes. Believe it or not but last nights sleep was the most worst and the most unpleasant I have had in a long time and I have spent a night locked up in a police station once. After spending almost sixteen hours playing RS I finally decided to hit the sack at about 2 last night, I swear my hart beat was through the roof and my wife told me I was sweating like a pig all I remember is I was worried that Persians were laying siege to my Capital of Pergamon. It was really horrible I kept falling asleep and waking up worried that my troops will not get there in time and both the Faction Leader and the Heir were in the capital at the time. Guys I am not making this up I was worried like all of this was for real. Warning to all who like their peaceful sleep don't go on a RS rampage give yourself a break now and then. Its too late for me now I am already an addict(and I am only 21) but save yourself, get yourself straight if your heading down that path but I guess this warning will be going to waste as its probably too late for anyone who is registered on this site. lol

I appologise to the Moderators if this topic is considered a spam but I thought it might be a fun fact to know. No grudges if you decide to close this I totally understand.

Cheers. I am away to deal with those bastards Selluicids.

Man I bet a night on a town with you would be a lot of fun and very safe. Come to Scotland I will take you out for a beer in Glasgow, your knife skills will come in very handy. lol

Man you have got to chill I am just talking of a one time event as I said I just started a new campaign and lost the track of time a bit. lol I work offshore so I get a lot of free time and I do a lot of sports and have many hobbies. It was just that day I felt like giving it my all for the glory of Pergamon.

I dont really understand how you guys cant get addicted to this game, I mean sure its a great game and tons of fun, but for me its the same old same old. The AI for me is too stupid for my brain to take it seriously. For me it usually MMORPGs that I have dreams about. When I use to be around 15-16 I use to play a of WoW. I admit I was a addict for about 2 years. I always use to have dreams about me getting the best gear and items, and then I wake up and nothing has happened. Sometimes I use to wake up at night thinking I got the best weapon and run to my computer to check it out. And in the middle of turning my computer on half way...I realize it was just a dream lol.

I get that from time to time where when I'm just about to wake up I'll have a "mini" dream and sometimes there's an epic battle that I dream of, sometimes I'm an officer and other times i'm an eagle. All I know is that I feel like a freaking zombie when I wake up from one of those. Now oddly enough If in the dream I win the battle I'll always win every battle I play for that day, and if I loose in the dream I'm plauged with loss after loss every battle I play.... An omen perhaps? I'm actually thinkin of joining the Military too... what if I dream I get shot? Maybe I'll just have to keep my head down then in that case!

I nearly had an all nighter just recently actually, whilst testing out RS2. Really wanted to get the Imperial reforms and ended up going to bed at like 5 am.

Its happened to me with other games too *shudders*...

We are sick, people... It happens to me with games and other events all the time. It's just what information our brains are concentrated on, I believe. So if you play RS all day/night, that's what's gonna happen.. Now, interestingly, when I dream about RTW I always crush my enemies... But I barely have any nightmares, thank God

Lol, when I read OP, I actually thought "it isn't a problem unless the Faction Leader/Heir are the only family members left, or if that's the last settlement" - since that would make you lose. Otherwise, your faction'll still live.

The brain in sleeping phase will probably ignore that fact and still be terrified of the imminent disaster

Nice speech.Well actually there are days when I ain't play mutch, but there are days when I play quite mutch, like 4-5 or more hours. And if I would have the chance to fill my time with archery, knife throwing,or if I would take place in some sort of reenactment,I wouldn't play mutch it, and would be one of the happiest men on Earth. But unfortunately there is no chance for these thing where I live.

well, I am not a hick from the sticks. I live in a town, albeit a small one, but its got a good 20-25 thousand people in it and I live in the middle of it. I just have a pretty big back yard and a tall fence. hay bails for a backstop work great, and I checked with my local law enforcment, and its perfectly ok. where do you live?

I like your gaming-hours... i play only if i have time. From MO-FR i play only 1 hour a day...and thats a lot for me, because of my family. At Weekend, i play more, but if ive played to long, i stop playing for several hours or dont play the hole day anymore.
I never had a dream about a game. But for fall in sleep, i think about tactics and solutions...usualy i fall in sleep very fast if i think about these things... and that doesnt mean, its a boring game

Herr Lindstrom, you will get the target to reduce your playing-hours. Its hard, but think about the words from "knight of virtue and valor".

Once in my teens I played for 2 days straight, stop only to eat and WC. My brain was so messed up and so tired, I couldn't remember stuff that just happened 30 seconds ago, or what I was supposed to do or where to go next, I'm crashed... Monday morning comes, alarmclock wakes me up 8 am but I need at least 6+ hours to be able to function. I switched off the clock, and my brain, f'ed up as it was, actually hallucinated opening an options menu, and I could see on the wall, right before my bloodshot eyes:
    Resume
    Load
    Save
    Quit
...and so I "will" an imaginary cursor to the imaginary Save button, save the "game" at 8 am, and think to myself "I'll just load it back when I'm fully rested", then slip back to dreamland.

So, yeah, I can relate to getting paranoid from overgaming, but like Octavius said, we are SICK. Games are just entertainment, but we can't control it so it becomes an addiction and it's taking a toll on our lives... you control the addiction by setting priorities firmly in your conscience, because for some people, (me included) deleting the game just won't do it, they reinstall it back months later and the cycle starts all over again... man this is sad, and RS2 isn't even out yet
