    Default Texture modifier

    Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a simple texture manager/editor that will allow me to swap around some facial textures in ETW. Any ideas? Nothing too complicated, just a simple program to alter existing textures rather than building entirely new units.

    Thanks alot for the help,

If you think using Gimp or PS is too complicated, than NO.

The only way to change textures is to extract them from the pack, alter them with Gimp or Photoshop (you need a dds-plug-in or -converter) and put them into a new mod.pack.
Depending of how extensive changes you make, you will most likely have to handle with two or three texture-pic for each unit. The diffuse.dds is the main texture. The Gloss_map.dds handles faction Colours, highlights, .... The Normal.dds is for adding smaller structures to the model.

This is the only way to change textures for now. NTW is announced to come with a uniform-editor, so it will be most likely easier to make changes there (So i fear it will also reduce modding possibilities once more).

    Hello,

Yes, that is my question. Where can I find a simple program to extract textures, change them, and put them into a new mod pack?

Which quality do you want? You can make it fast with Gimp or Photoshop with low quality or you sit down and make them in Gimp or PS in high quality.

To extract the textures use PackFileManager. You can also use that to put them in a mod pack you can distribute to other users.
