    Default Skinning help

    I know there are a lot of tutorials and I have read plenty of them, but my problem is this: I am making some adjustments to the dismounted huscarls of Norway, but when I go onto the battle map the huscarls are covered in armor. So I do not really know if I am editing the right textures or if they are showing up at all. Now, I am a total beginner of course so whatever information you need I can give you!

    First of all, you need to make sure the game is fully unpacked and is set to read the files first. I assume you're editing the teutonic campaign directly.

    Red is the base entry for the unit in battle_models.modeldb. Blue is one of the upgrade entries for the unit in battle_models.modeldb.

    You'll want to get the formatted version of that file here, since it's easier to read. Just replace the unpacked one in the teutonic directory with that one and rename it so it doesn't have - Teutonic on there.

    That same file is used for Svenner(and upgrade), NE Bodyguard, Huscarl, and quite a few other units. Vanilla has the tendency of re-using textures multiple times, in this case at least 10 times. So you might want to copy the texture, name it something different, and tell it to reference the other file instead(read a tut on the battle_models file). That way it won't impact whatever else it's being used in.
