Are you using MTW2 or kingdoms?
    Do you have vista?
And, most important, do you have a DX 10 grphics card?

Kingdoms - Barebones is kingdoms anyway

And i'll have to get back at you bout the DX10

    EDIT : Apparently , vanilla MTW2 battles don't work either ..

    I assume it's that DX10 thing then - How do i solve that ?

And yea , i have vista

If you're using Kingdoms 1.5 you don't need to delete the geography files. Deleting the geography files actually makes the battle maps look worse seems to be the consensus.

Just delete descr_geography_new.db and don't delete descr_geography_new.txt. Then add these lines to your .cfg file:
    Code:
    [misc]
    rebuild_geography_db = true
It should rebuild the DB from the txt file and not have the timestamp error. You may need to unpack the files again after patching to Kingdoms 1.5, I'm not entirely sure whether the changed behavior is contingent on changes in the files themselves. Afterwards, changes can be made in the txt file, and the db file deleted just as you'd delete map.rwm for map changes.

It just replaces it anyway if you change the cfg (unlike the rwm which would cause a crash if you didn't replace it).

you need to use thie guide:

    ______________________________________________________________________
    V. USING MODIFIED FILES
    ______________________________________________________________________

    - To use the modified files create a batch file in your
    Medieval II: Total War folder

    - In the batch file add the following line

    medieval2.exe --io.file_first

    - NOTE: Due to a timestamp check, the following unpacked files will
cause the game to crash and must be deleted before the game is
    launched:
    data\descr_geography_new.txt
    data\descr_geography_new.db
    - Save the batch file and then launch Medieval II: Total War using the
    newly created batch file.
if you want to now more cheak the README fill in the UNPACK folder.
