As the title indicates I would like to use a new picture for the generic historic events. surely it shouldn't be a problem?
Simply create a tga graphic with the same dimensions and stick it in all the eventpics folders in the culture folders in the ui folder (data\ui\culture_name\eventpics), right?
Wrong!
I went as far as to use the unpacked pic with just a big red\green\blue dot in the folders, but the default from the pack still comes.
Checking the log it seems the game agonizes for at least 50 lines about the files. It looks for the event's name file which isn't there:
Then it completely ignores the new, existing historic_event.tga file:Code:[system.io] [info] exists: missing mods/1648_Beta02/data/ui/southern_european/eventpics/1618_01.tga
And takes the one from the pack:Code:[system.io] [info] exists: missing mods/1648_Beta02/data/ui/northern_european/eventpics/historic_event.tga
What can a man do? Do I have to live with this? Or do I have to make a picture for each historic event? Or is there a solution?Code:[system.io] [info] exists: found data/ui/northern_european/eventpics/historic_event.tga (from: packs/data_2.pack)
I found this entry in the kingdoms.exe file:
ui/%s/eventpics/historic_event.tga followed by the various culture names, so I guess some kind of instruction is there.
Edit:
It appears the new historic_events file may only be in the ui\northen_european folder. The moment it is in any of the other cultures' folder it reverts to the vanilla one.
Why can't things be straightforward?
