After that turned out fairly well, I tried playing around with the opposite: Darker walls, and buildings too, for those smelly Moria orcs. What I have here ought to be compatible with any mod that doesn't change building textures, although obviously I think it would go particularly well with TATW. Won't require a campaign restart either.

The only drawback is that sometimes a settlement a notch above or below will use a single or few tiles from the other's files. That means you might have a regularly colored castle using one or two squares of white walls set for the fortress, which would look odd. And the way I've done it means any settlement of the same nation will use the colors here, so it's not specific to, say, Minas Tirith, Moria, etc. Gondor's fortresses or citadels will be white, OotMM's huge cities dark.

At some point in the near future I will probably go through all the different levels for each faction and apply the same sequence of filters to have them all following a scheme. If someone else out there can enjoy it too, all the better. I'm too busy right now, but I'd like to change some of the textures entirely... we'll see. By that time, I'm sure the mod team for TATW will have fully custom settlements out, this is just to tide me over, really.

Here are some pictures; yes, I waited a turn or two each to get some favorable weather to show off the effects.

    Moria (at huge)...

(This following one makes the blue stand out a little much. I might tone it down some, if I get any feedback on this stuff.)

Minas Tirith (Hm, either at Fortress or Citadel, I forget)...

The outer wall was actually dark or black, or? I find this looks nice, though. Again, feedback if anyone cares.

Files are in usual structure, starting at /data/ level. Paste into the appropriate mod folder. Nothing should have to be overwritten, if you have no submods with custom settlements.

It's definitely better than what we've got now!

    will install later.

In that day Tulkas shall strive with Morgoth, and on his right hand shall be Eönwë, and on his left Túrin Turambar, son of Húrin, coming from the halls of Mandos; and the black sword of Túrin shall deal unto Morgoth his death and final end; and so shall the children of Húrin and all Men be avenged.

He asked if he can include it. As in if Twist would give him permission to include it in the RC release, for everyone to download it along with the rest of rc.

Haha... hey, that wasn't me complaining. At least not about the updates!

    Vague comments resembling plans:

More orc factions get the darker buildings. (Mordor next - with the nice bleak surroundings, the effect should be even better.)
Add nice banners to hang over all faction's gates. (Sadly, somehow I did not get permission to use existing ones.)
Perhaps a few banners hanging on various walls, as well. (Or other flat additions to make areas appear more Tolkien-esque. They can be per-faction, if you have suggestions, this is the place.)

Wish list: (The "wish" is mostly to have more time to do this)

Elven faction buildings with more greenery (perhaps by duplicating "ivy" tiles, or even making new ones)
Change Rohan "City" type walls to a wooden structure (probably quite easy, actually - but will not make them less durable)
Input and ideas on this stuff (This is your part)

Try looking on civ fanatics site for the mod, Fall from Haeven II, it has custom buildings that fit in perfectly for ME.http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=171398

I doubt I will have time to fully model or import milkshape stuff and make it work, but changing textures beyond just the colors may be within my time constraints. And that mod looks like there could be a lot of material to use.

Also, what I'm doing now: Not exactly what I want yet, but I'm getting somewhere. I may use this as a basis for both Rohan (stone on the bottom, less ivy tiles) and elves (No stone, and heavy on the ivy).
