UPDATE : A Glorious Victory !!!

After re-DL the file, the .exe finally worked fine. Therefore, my conclusion is that the 1st DL was incomplete.

For all viewers, this can happen :
- If the server where the file is stocked is overrun.
- If you intensively use your PC (online applications) while doing multiple DL.
Those were my mistakes.

But what .exe do you click on? The BI one? If I do that, mine just opens the vanilla BI game (as, I guess, is natural)...

I think your problem, aernuss, may be similar to the 2702 error in brg III. Try redownloading the mod several times to see if it works. It didn't for me but my computer is 2004 xp...

Thanks, I just did that, again, and I'm going to try to install to C\.

Edit: Nop, same error! I don't know if this helps, but I leave here my PC characteristics:
Windows XP Prof v2002 SP3
LastXPv21, Intel Core 2CPU
6320 @ 1.86GHz
1.87 GHz 3,00 GB Ram

I like the second one, as my computer tends to corrupt RAR downloads.
BTW I have two computers, the XP one has games on it. It' slowly degrading... It's a failure

I usually appraoch new RIO verssions and patches with some trepidation because it never seems to install right the first time. However with BRG IV I installed it smoothly and successfully on two laptops. RIo must have made some changes under the hood compared to the beta version because so far BRG IV seems to be very stable and playable. Right now I have a DoS campaign going and will post a map later. Good job Rio!

Try reinstalling the game several times. For some reason this has worked for this issue. It is possible something isn't getting copied over correctly. Let me know if you get it going ok...

BTW my computer will probably filter through it good, although it has a tendency to corrupt RAR files while installing...

Gotta problem.

Fresh install of Rome and BI (installed to Program files/Activision/Rome Total War BTW)
Copied bi folder and renamed it rio (old bi folder's name is "bi -folder2")

Ran install of IB to the Prgram files/Activision/Rome Total War folder....and when I click on the RTW icon or the BI icon, it ends up being just plain RTW Vanilla?!

Hi, i just downloaded the BRG 3.
Then i copied bi folder and renamed it rio.
After that i installed BRG 3 into that folder.
But i can only start the normal game. why?

Was it?
C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War
Or?
C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War

Last year I got hooked up on the Invasio Barbarorum Mod that starts in 410. This year I thought to give the 463 campaign a try. I'm doing a PhD myself on the contribution of Warlords (like Boniface, Aetius, Aegidius and Ricimer) to the collapse of the Western Roman Empire in the 5th century, so this is all good research stuff

However, I'm having a bit of troubles with installing this particular mod. I installed the vanilla Rome Total War again. Then I downloaded the mod. That went okay. But when I'm trying to install the Assimilation thing (.rar) I can't seem to unpack them (I get a load of errors, maybe it depends on my program)

Also, I copied and renamed the BI folder (which is in The Creative Assembly folder), while Rio's Mod is the Activision folder. Very confusing.

Could somebody please explain me what I have to do step by step (in a bit more detail than the existing topics)?

You got the Rio BRG III working correct?... and its the Assimilation Mod Patch that your having an issue with?
The Assimilation Mod Patch neesds winrar tobe unpacked(all rar files do) If filled w/errors may want to re download

Rio IBFD BRG III
1- clean 1.6 rtw-bi. installation
2- Within the rtw folder copy the bi and change the copied bi folder to rio
3- installer - Install RIO'S IBFD BRG III

RIO'S BRG III Assimilation Mod
-Extract to your desk top
-Copy or drop the rio folder over your rtw folder where your rio mod is located, copy over all existing files.

Thank you for the mod, I have not played a campaign yet, but I cannot play custom battles with the Visigoths, the game crashes as soon as I press "Start Deployment". I can play as the Romans however.

Is this peculiar to Custom Battles or Barbarian factions? Is this a known problem?

No, I didn't change anything, just goes black and the microsoft report problem thing coes up.

I'd just fought battles with both Vandals and Goths that turn, but I'll reload another save from a few turns earlier and see if I get past that point.
