    I'll check that out later today.

    Edit: Unfortunately, I didn't have a savegame right before the battle so I loaded the most recent one. Again, I fought some battles with no problem against the Vandals, after which I decided to assault the rather weakly defended Turis. BI just crashed, same as before.

    Also somehow I think if the problem was in a battle unit the game will at least show an error message. I base this assumption on unpleasant experiences with crashes in other mods. What can I try now? I'm thinking some custom battles with different Vandal army composition, but as I've already pointed out, I'm having crashes with the Visigoths also. It's almost always the third, maybe fourth battle when the game crashes. I don't have that much crashes with any other mod. I'm getting desperate here. An occasional CTD isn't the end of the world, but this is happening all the time and ruining the whole pleasure from playing the mod.

    Yes try the custom battle game. I'm betting your having an issue with both factions general units

    I was just about to mention my similar issues with the Seubi Chosen Warlord...In several battles, a re-calibration of the graphics settings solved the issues, but others it has not. I bet if I fought some more battles against the Franks, Vandals, Alemanni, Langobardi, Ostrogoths, and Burgundi I would have issues with general's units for each faction...My fix would be to offer an optional install that replaces the default general's unit for the 'western' (minus Saxons, Gaelic tribes, and Picts) barbarians with either the Visigothic saiones or the next most powerful unit in each faction's roster.

    Strange how it affects some graphics cards and not others but yes will do...I'll make a patch with such changes and will need you two to help me test it.

    I am a IBFD fan, so thu fo this game very much! But I hanve one little problem: you change the menu in real-time battles, and when I want to speed-up or to slow-up the time in battles? I don't find necessary arrows. How can I change the speed of the time in real-time battles?

    I saw a post by julianus in his mods forum about this cause its has the same menu...Need to check this out

    I need to post some update on my situation. I'm no longer sure if the crashes I reported are connected to the mod. As I've said, I didn't have them with any other mod, but still, there was new development with my computer.

    Yesterday my PC just crashed and never loaded Windows properly after that. I had to format my drive and make a fresh Win XP install. My configuration was likely very unstable, so crashes in any game or mod could well have been a result from this.

    Also, I reached another important conclusion. I'm not sure how much it could affect crashes, but since I've done it now with my new Windows install, I suppose I've done it with the one that died. I keep my RTW mod installs, so after the new Win install, I simply start the game and play. I've noticed that the Windows error message says 'illegal operation'. Might that be because a proper installation of RTW and BI hasn't been done? (Again, this doesn't seem to affect mods like RS and others.)

    Maybe I'll try doing a proper install, reinstalling the mod and only then playing some custom battles to see if the problem is in the units, in the mod itself. But if there are people with the same issues I suppose my crashes could be mod-related after all. Still, I felt obliged to report the problems with my system.

    I'll have something tomorrow that I hope you can take a look at.
    I've given the Alemanni, Burgundii, Visigoths, Ostrogoths, Lombardi, and Vandals the Rebel general(will call the Barbarian Warlord). Franks are using the a Arthurian TW model. Many of those factions will be able to recruit their own warlords such as the Saio and Thuringian warlords within the game.

    Edit: Very strange.. I did everything I said I'll try and now the game gives the strange error mentioned in this thread:

    "Script Error in rio/data/export_descr_buildings.txt, at line 2407, column 34

    Expected 'requires' or nothing"

    I tried editing the shortcut, but this is how it looks like in the end: RomeTW-BI.exe -show_err -mod:rio
    The path is also correct. I have no idea what to do.

    Ok Re install the game again over. It may take more than a few times to get it to work but people with this issue have been able to get it to work but doing this..

    OK..Replaced 6 general units With bi vanilla one and will redo them if this is successful

    Newest corrections Separated the Lombardi, Burgundii and Alemanni general units..Also had to correct the model unit for Ostrogoths, Visigoths and Slaves
    RIO General Units Assimilation Patch.rar

    Still needs work lol...increase the upkeep for the barb general units to at least 1,000

    -I'm liking this way better than the older way and may use this modification for the standard future upgrades(patches and mods)

    Lookin' good worked well. While its a shame to lose the individualized general units for the barbarian factions, its good to not have to worry about any game-killing bugs

    I installed RTW, after that BI, I solved the strange error by copying my bi folder and renaming it rio, installing BRG III, then I applied the latest 'general' patch. I started a fresh campaign. The second battle I fought is another crash, exactly the same as the one I was having in the beginning. I'm now positive that the cause is not the barbarian warlords - I have applied the patch and also the army I fought didn't have a general. I'll probably give up soon and stop playing the mod.. Even though I love it..

    Edit: Any ideas, Rio?

    Sorry that I double post but it seems to be the only way to get attention to the thread and my problem.

    OK, I have this crazy idea. I've been thinking for some time that the Alexander AI would be a great addition to this mod. Due to the mod's period and features (such as hording and others) I've decided not to try Alex. Now with this nasty CTD, I believe using the Alex .exe might just fix my issues. (I have no crashes using Alex with Roma Surrectum, for example.) The problem of course is the BI features in the mod. I know it's a little too much to ask, but can someone point me to the files and lines that need to be removed from the mod, so I could try playing it with Alex.exe?

    Sorry bout that...didn't want you to give up on it. Please give this a try. I'm not sure what needs to be removed or what needs to be implemented but I'll start a new thread on this topic ok

    No problem, Rio, you've been very helpful so far... But something is eluding us

    I successfully ran BRG III with Alex, no issues loading the game, then loading my savegame. The second battle I tried to fight - Alex.exe crashed. So I guess that proves my CTD is not BI related. Fairly common case for crashes is when I fight on a 'landbridge'. Still, the CTD occurred numerous times when fighting in other places.

    I could still post in the Alex thread about how I ran Alex in the first place. No result for me though..

    Maybe its the textures?? Promegrass in game battle textures
    -I'll up load orig bi textures to see if that works ok?
    And yes please explain how you got the Alex exe to work
