Justinian mod is no longer compatible with the other two campaigns..it has a different author so it currently remains on the back burner.
Yeah I finally got it going. Thanks for all your help. However, when I look at the Western Roman Empire I want to weep... so much land lost.
Do you know where I can get the Justinian campaign?
Also, during battles, I have this weird layout with most of the command icons hidden unless you point your cursor to the top, and then you get the pop up of the command icons. Anyway to switch back to the old style?
But this is a great mod! Reminds me of Europa Barborum... I didn't do so well in a battle against the Vandals in Sardinian though. I still won, but at what a loss! Cities with stone walls are really bloody to take without artillery! How come you can't sap the walls on some of the settlements with stone walls?

    Thanks Barbarian Roman
-The command icons I think that can be changed in your preferences. I'll change that for BRG IV.

-Sap units are rare..they come from factions elite units and by way of logistica engineering...a lost art at this time

Make sure to have the assimilation mod patch and the file add on in downloads. It gives the game so much more..

In my perfrences, I applied the four perfernce files that appeared in my main RTW file after I downloaded this. Which one should I delete?
I applied 4TPY scripts and the assimilation patch. Am I missing something?
As for that Justininan mod, is it impossible to get?

Hi Rio, this screenshot shows what i am asking about. On the bottom is a battlemap menue taken from my desk top. However, when I installed BRG II on my laptop the battlemap menue on the bottom of the screen is missing. Is this an issue with my laptop or is it the preferences file?

    Thanks

Here is the screen shot from a battle on my laptop. The installed version includes the assimilation patch. I’m confused on why they should be different.

    Thanks for any help

    Thanks for any help
I had the same question for Rio. He told me to apply the preferences text file (found 4 posts above this post).

Now there's an offer I can't refuse! Sure, I'd love to participate in testing BRG IV for you. In fact, I do software acceptance testing for a living.

They really hyped me up to go kick some Soissonese arse! lololol Now I'm really hooked up to this mod, and I can only see one disadvantage on my part: my masters thesis will surely suffer as I'm perfectly sure my research periods would be diverted to playing this mod.

On another note, I noticed that not all of my generals are in my family tree. My heir is not even there. Is there an explanation why it is so? And also, where can I find a guide to traits, titles and ancillaries? I'm very much confused how a general becomes a quaestor, rex galea, militum, etc. This is what I've been looking for in a mod: lots of materials for roleplaying and immersing yourself in the late Roman era.

And I'm really looking forward to BRG IV's release.

EDIT: Oh, and the AI tweaks really amazed me. I was surprised to face a battle with an AI army that has, for the first time in my RTW playing history, a really varied and logical array of troops! Whereas before, and in other mods I played, I only get to face AI full stacks of spearmen with no variation at all. Another A+ for that.
    Masters in Hstory?

There are some hidden royal factions for some faction families. You can always choose an heir though if you want.

I have a folder with the DL with the new BRG III ancillaries
In BRG IV their are some new traits I'll list in BRG IV including the Arth Ru(Arthur trait)
to find the traitsgo to rio/datsa/text/export_VnVs
You will see a list with there descriptions.

I do allow for the barbarians to come out firing with some of their big boys. It is the 5th century and I am of the thinking they should be able to get to some elites quick

Masters in Education Management. I'm a teacher IRL.

I had a look at that export_VnVs.txt and ancillaries.txt as well. But I still don't know the pre-conditions for every trait/ancillary. Example: When and how does a general become a Magistiri Militum? Or Rex Italiae? Does he have to win a specific number of battles? Does he have to be in a particular settlement? Does he have to be at a certain age? Or is it just a random thing?

And I think that was a nice tweak. I found this mod really challenging. Battle tactics really come into play here. You can't just rely on sheer numbers or the quality of your troops to save the day. You have to employ tactics to outmaneuver the AI. I found it the hard way. lol

Ok to find the traits levels the triggers go to rio/data/export_descr_character_traits
scroll down a bit to find their triggers

To find the ancillaries effects and their the triggers go to rio/data/export_descr_ancillaries
scroll down a bit to find their triggers

    Moved here for discussion

    RaR non mod folder
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z1V5SQM4
Copy and paste the bi folder over your rtw folder where your rio mod is copying over all existing files

    included are:
    2 BRG III Icon launchers
Rio BRG III 4turn per year scripts
    Rio BRG III Info Guide
    Rio Orig bi descr_model_strat
-Ihatemondays soundmod will be available in a separate download

The above megaupload link is broken. Could someone please upload this again? Also if you can upload it, could you please upload it to a site that won't delete the file? I think moddb doesn't delete any of their mod files. But, then again I could be wrong since I have never uploaded a mod before.

Rio, thank you for making this mod. I also want to thank anyone else that helped with this mods creation.

Ok now I know for a fact the cough syrup I'm having to take is making me a little loopy. About 30 seconds ago I was gonna post the same comment I made above without even remembering I wrote the original comment .

BUT I do have another question which I don't think I have asked in this forum BUT I could be wrong.

It was said in a post on the INVASIO BARBARORVM RR forum that most mods are designed and balanced for playing on normal difficulty. It was also mentioned that playing the game on very hard difficulty (I'm unsure whither they meant in the campaign or battle map or both) could cause the AI to become confused and thus make a lot of mistakes. Due to the incompetence of the AI the game would actually be easier on very hard/hard than it would be on normal. So what difficulty setting for YOUR mod would ACTUALLY be the most challenging?

Here is the link for the RR post if you are curious.

I balance the mod while it(the AI) plays out on normal settings. So my thinking is the harder the level you wanna play the more difficult it is gonna be. The AI I dont think gets confused but it becomes more aggressive and secondly it gets bonuses so after normal settings the AI that is playing against you will get financial bonuses and in in game battles they will again get bonuses. To me, for my mod, I think the game should be played on Hard campaign and Hard battles to get the best challenge out of game playing and a sense of some feeling of historical accuracy even though the AI is still literally cheating you. The reason is the AI cannot yet think and strategies like you or me. So it needs an equalizer of sorts. It has come a long way and we have modified the AI to react better but the game hasn't to this point created an AI that is equal to the humane brain..close, but not yet ..thats the simple reality of it.

Icon7 Re: RIO IBFD BRG III RELEASE AND DISCSSION!

I don't really care too much about historical accuracy. I care more about facing a large strategic and/or tactical challenge. So I guess I'll play your mod on Very Hard for both the Campaign and Battles. Also does the new megaupload file you posted contain all of the current patches (assimilation etc) of your mod? Also can you update the megaupload link on the 1st page of this topic so that any new players to this mod will be able to find the link easily? If this new file contains all of the patches etc for this mod then you probably also want to edit the text on the 1st page too when you edit the link.

Also thanks again for making this mod and I look forward to playing it. Oh I haven't actually played it yet. But, my download just finished so I should have everything now. I hate forgetting something and then having to patch which forces me to start my campaign over again.
