Default Playing after a campaign victory

Despite having played RTW for a long time now this is the first time I'm going to achieve a campaign victory. Which makes me curious, is it possible for me to continue playing after I've achieved a campaign victory? Both for the short campaign and the long campaign? Also, is it possible for me to continue playing after I've gone past the "end date" of the campaign? Thanks.

When you complete the victory conditions, you are given the option of continuing the campaign. If, by the end date, you have achieved victory, I believe you are able to continue on. I rarely go this far, though.

Yeah you can continue playing, but it's true, I just once continued that far. I never reached the end date of 14AD, i think 100BC is the most far i got.

In the vanilla of the vanilla of RTW it was impossible to play after the victory conditions were met, but after a certain patch they made it possible for you to continue after the completion of your objectives. So depending on what patch you are running on will decide if you can play on after the conditions are met.

in vanilla, u can carry on playing after u got 50 settlements, but after u have got EVERY single settlement on the map, u wont be able to carry on if u have the 1.5 patch.

Yes you can carry on, did it once in Brutii game. By the year 200 B.C. I controlled every province on the map and the game ends in a total victory (anyone remember the victory screens from MTW1 where you got Victory if you controlled 2/3 of the map and Total Victory when you ruled the world?)

Anyway it basicly says that you rule from sunrise to sunset or some other . Anyway it's too easy to achieve a world conquest in the Total War games.

Is there a movie when you complete the quest?

You get a victory screen, I don't remember if it is a still picture or if it's the same as the movie you get for a normal victory. Anyway it's nothing special, so if you haven't really missed anything. Your only reward is the satisfaction of having painted the entire map green, I also think it automatically unlocks all the other factions even though you didn't conquer them personally.

I'm sorry ... by the date 200 b.c you controlled every province? WITHOUT cheating?

blimey ... I must say that is impressive. I think by the date 200 b.c on H/H with my Brutii, I had most of Asia pushing on Egypt and taking on the Julii

now in my game it is 160 b.c Now just taking Spain and Africa.

Why should anyone want to continue after conquering every single settlement?

Well, perhaps if you create goals such as 'make every settlement content or in the black' you could continue on playing, but I agree, you need at least one enemy, and the rebels don't count for much.

Hi, You can play on, I use this function for a mod I am working on, It maybe best if you set the end date in the strat file to 200 AD or similar, although back up your original game first in case it does not like it.Also keep a watch on the women in your faction, If you get more than 3 in one turn passing the age of childbirth this can cause a sudden end to the campaign, Best thing is not to be picky over who marries your daughters

I dont know if there is a movie.... :/
The closest Ive ever gotten to completing a campaign was with Greece. I took 49 provinces, wiped out Rome, and my final city was going to be Carthage.
Save got corrupted.... havent gotten close since.

    Hi all.
I think I will join up on Steve2295's statement. I have played RTW for almost 5 years, and I can tell from experience that some one must have used some sort of cheat to control the ENTIRE map in the year 200bc. It is impossible other wise. Just the logistical opstacles that needs to be taken care of. It takes more than 15 turns just to get to the far north east province, which name I can not remember. And 200 bc. is only 140 turns.
And coolguyz, if I am not mistaken, Genius used Jihad and an exelent starting position to make that achievement. And it was not in RTW.

    aaah thank you Morten .

Yes I mean controlling Scythii takes at least a couple of years to get across!

Also it is defantly impossible if you are playing the Mundus Magna v.3 mod! North up to Sweden, south to Sudan, East to Pakistan and west to Morroco.

    Defantly impossible!

If you are actually stating you did a world conquest in 70 years .. I'd like a screen shot please

You are mistaken sir. It was in Rome, which obviously means no Jihad either. Perhaps you were thinking about the link to Grog's campaign posted a while ago by decimator22?

My two cents; I'd say it'd be possible in even less time. Maybe 30 years instead of 70. I'm basing this on my position at the end of my Greek Cities Speed Run. The position is fairly strong with no real threat remaining to the empire. Certainly the barbarians would be a pushover with the Armoured Hoplites. The only factions that could slow the advance down would be the HA factions of the East. Egypt has lost three out of its four good settlements, so they're nothing to worry about. Parthia, Armenia and Scythia are the only ones to think about, but thanks to the Black Sea getting fresh armies there from Greece would be no big hassle. Definitely possible.

    Hi all.
Oh yes, now I remember you. You asked for suggestions on what nation to pick for a speed run for the SHORT CAMPAIGN right? I my self can complete a short campaign with the Brutii in apox the same time (15-16 turns). But to control the entire map? That is something completely different. I have tried, on VH/VH, to go for world domminance, and I am my self pretty fast if I want to be so, and I always ends up near the year 130-120 bc. And that includes ALL provinces. From the most favourable possition it takes between 12 and 15 turns just to get to Tribus Alani. So forgive me if I am still doubting weither it is possible to control the entire map in only 70 years. If I see a screenshot, I will give in. Not before.

Not at all impossible, in fact I did it on Very Hard/Very Hard. In fact it could have been done faster, haven't you played Alexander Total War? All you have to do is to exterminate every city in you way and keep moving on, you only need to spend 1 turn in each city, that's enough to build up some peasants to hold the settlement. If you quickly capture the Statue of Zeus it gets even easier.

I guess you haven't learned as much as you think in your 5 years :p
