I captured all Isengard's settlements, killed all generals (faction leader and heir were slain in single battle) but Isengard are still aliveI'm playing vanilla 1.2 as Eldar. Any thoughts?

Same thing happens with OotMM, it's a known bug.
Install the hotfix for it. This sometimes solves the problem.
Is hotfix compatible with v1.2?

Yah, it was for me. It is defenitly save game compatible.
Back up your save files before you begin ofc.
IIRC hotfix isn't needed anymore and may not solve the problem of undying factions .
According to the "bugs reoport" thread you should copy - paste THIS into sega/medieval ii t.war/mods/third age/ data
I repeated the bugfix after installing 1.2 and it still works.
Sometimes there is a diplomat or a spy, I remember in others mods, you had to search them and kill them with an assassin... try that![]()
It is simply a setting in the descr_sm_factions. Isengard hasn't got a family tree - hence the faction cannot die. Pointed that out to KK.
It is helpful for the pope and the rebel faction, but a nuisance for any other faction.
And, NO, it is not save game compatible.
The working version of the file is attached.
