err they dont, this is vanillas attempt to show the dangers of the grenade, back in the 18th century grenades would blow frequently blow up while a grenader was trying to throw one, however to fix this just make the units RELOAD value higher in the units_stats_land tables, as Reload also controls the rate of "misfires" which is wat a grenade blowing up on a friendly unit is considered
