    Default Renaming captured settlements?

Anyone else do this? As Harad I renamed the major Gondorian cities that I captured after current or former Grand Chieftans.

As the High Elves "Gram" just doesn't cut it as an Elven name, I need to start checking out the appendices for some ideas for names.

Imladris > Rivendell (So prefer the Common Tongue)

    E./W. Osgiliath > East/West Osgiliath

there are probably others but I can't think of any.

I used to love renaming in vannila, as many as I could were turned into Scottish Gaelic, when playing Scotland of course, I also tried this with French, Spanish and German, when playing as the respective factions. I don't bother with TATW though, the names are already good enough for me. The only exeption is playing Mordor and taking Minas Tirith, which then becomes Minas Ghash, (Tower of Fire, or something similar.)

I went back to Rome TW and suddenly regretted not being able to rename settlements - until I was exploring the "preferences" file and came across an interesting line.

I normally don't bother, unless I'm playing as OotMM. I mean, they're something like... Mountain Fort? Goblin Town? I usually give them nice black speech names, Ologronk and Burzum-ishi. (Would be either "Troll Pool" or "Troll Pit," and "In the Darkness," respectively.)

I usually give them quite stupid and inmature names. It`s nice imagining some Gondorian General giving a battle speech to his men:

General: "Now is the hour of our glory! We will take boobtown from those filt.."

Soldiers *Snicker* : "You said boobs.. hihih"

General: "OH COME ON! It`s just a name, come on. After we won the battle some of you may go back to cockville and rest a..."

    Soldiers *Rolling on the floor*

General: "Enough. You, you, and you form the vanguard. Laugh about that."

Yes, i know, inmature. Even some stern machiavellian mind like me needs his childish humor, sometimes.

I rename Minas Tirith and Minas Morgul, Dol Guldur and Isengard at least, and Goblin town, Orv encampment etc.

I rename them only if a general dies somewhere around (and dwarf generals usually die in the Misty Mountains, unfortunately) and give them the names like: Fili's Tomb or if there's a heroic victory around or leaving a general in town like Goblin Town or Orc Encampment, I rename it after the governor like Gimli's Halls.
