Is it possible to block the land bridge with ships, between Harad and Gondor? Specifically between the territories of Barad Harn and Linhir? How many ships do you need?
Thank You.

no
Just a thought: maybe you could crowd the pass with diplomats, spies etc.? Don't know if that would work and it's kind of cheating anyway, but it might be an option if you really need to block it. These guys get pushed out of the way by enemy armies but possibly not if there's nowhere to move to (due to crowding).
If agent can't get away and there is army coming agent just die, so...![]()
ah yes have used it a few times killing inquisitors when assasins fail just send a army stack of men out surround the sucker then step a man on to him as he has no where to go instant death
So no your diplomat wall will not work ( it will get a few diplomats killed though so go for it)
As mentioned dont cheat take an army down to the crossing i personally hide them in the trees on the island i catch alot of there armies off with that it helps
Or you could block it with an army and not cheat.
If you could build forts, I'd build on infront of the bridge. Unfortunately you can't in TATW though.

Thanks for all your comments.
Yes it was impossible to block with ships.
I went back a few saved turns and placed an army there.
It effectively blocked all of Harad's advances into Gondor.
I finally decided to take Barad Hurn, and this drew all Harad forces away from the land bridge and into that local. From there, it's been easy fighting them off.

Hmm. I've never seen a wizard.
And to answer the question, I used two ships with one army. But I kept feeling like I didn't need the ships although I never took the time to do the experiment.

the best form of defence is offence; take Harandor
The Duke of Dunwich and surrounding fiefdom
For any who are interested by my FF on occurrences in Rhun and beyond; I have begun a new project (not because the old one is finished, just opening more room for ideas) about one of the minor characters, Rankal. It is in the Third Age AAR index and here is the link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=376994
Would it not be cool, like in Empire Total War, tobe able to set up a temporary defensive entrenchment/fort/spike defence wall if your army has been standing in the same place for more than 2/3 turns... It would have a large influence sphere and could block major bridgeways and narrow mountain-passes, This would work great at blocking bridges.
