Icon7 Questions about Education and Health (Generals)

I have a bunch of questions on how the systems in SS 6.1 work which ill post under here. Ive bin unable to find anwsers for these through the search functions and scanning forum topics either due to them not beeing there or me beeing retarded.

What i would like in relation to these questions is 1 of the follwing anwsers if possible in order after priority:

    A. An explanation
    B. A link to a thread explaning it
    C. If neither of the above is possible or for some reason, a direction to which stat file that has the modifiers for my question.

    Questions.

    1: Education.
I was under the impression that the only effect education had was when a character "comes of age", his education would have modifiers based on the educational systems in the region or town he was located in when "Spawning" coming of age. Untill i saw the trait "Scholar" which basicly tells me to send the charater to a town with educational buildings

Question 1.a: Can a charater gain more education over time by staying in a region with high level educational buildings, or does it only affect when a character comes of age?

    2: Health system (Generals).
Now in the early game i send my 2 generals too take over some towns a sea. Now while laying siege, they both gained the trait "Unhealthy". 1 of them even gained a disease. I was here also under the impression that to get my generals back to healthy i had to leave them in a town for several turns. However after letting them be in a city for 4 turns their state is unchanged.

Question 2.a: How do i get my characters healthy again? If it is indeed letting them be in a city, whats the chance% of them taking a step towards healthy again, or how many turns do i have to wait?

    Thx in advance the noob.

As for answering question 1, yes you can increase the generals education by placing him in a region with high-level education buildings. This is on the intro scroll when you start a new game.

If you have a pneumonia trait, then I'm pretty sure you're using BYG's mod. I don't think they have it in regular ss, but I'm not sure.
If you read the BYG's mod thread, it'll explain most of the unusual traits and effects, such as diseases, educatoin, and supplies.

Diseases are in SS by default. They are a part of the BBB trait mod that was included.

I think Unhealthy can not be fixed that will stick with him permanently. There are couple other diseases that will go away after couple of turns spent in settlement

Well, you're mostly correct. When a new character comes of he'll be recieving education untill the 'Graduation' trait. It's during this time he'll recieve most of his education traits. These are either military, or civilian traits, and are specified in his profile. There's still a chance for him to recieve education traits, afterwards, though the chance is much less, and ususally requires a highly developed town. He can also recieve military educational traits by winning a bunch of battles aswell, symbolizing experience. The 'Scholar' trait helps gain these traits, though the chance is still much lower than during his teens.

Yes, he can still gain traits after his education is finished, though the chance is much less, like stated above.

Getting sick during a long siege is unfortunatly not uncommon. Most of the time they'll get cured if you stick them in a town for some turns afterwards, although some unlucky generals never really heal. It's my impression that more developed cities, with more buildings that gives + health heals them faster, though I'm not sure about that. It makes though.

As someone mentioned, 'Unhealthy' is a different type of Trait and, unless I'm mistaken (it's been a long time since I last played it), it's from Vanilla. A character can be born with Unhealthy, Healthy and Robust (Vigorous?) as Traits and, IIRC, they give -1, 0, +1 Hitpoints as a reflection of their basic constitution. As I said, it's been a while since I played Vanilla and it's also been a while since I bothered reading those Trait descriptions, so I could be wrong.

There are two other types of Traits that a character can gain/lose in SS.

The first are as a direct result of combat and are things like Wounded(?) where the character will have less hitpoints than normal until they have rested in a settlement for a while. These Traits are mixed up with some from Vanilla as well but work a bit differently because in Vanilla they are all just random and have a positive effect, while in SS you have to get some negative Traits before the Positive ones (pretty sure you can't get Marks of War unless you've been Wounded). That's how I understand them from seeing them in action and reading the forums (even if I got the names mixed up... is it Wounded or Injured? Scarred or Horribly Scarred?)

The second set are, AFAIK, not in Vanilla at all and they are the disease Traits - things like Seasick, and Pneumonia, are gained by spending too long at sea, or out of a settlement, and will reduce your character's effectiveness until he has had a chance to recuperate in a town. I gather that it's a low percentage each Turn out (I've had a General get Seasick after one Turn at sea) so the longer you're away the more times you're "rolling the dice" and the more likely you are to fail and get sick.
I'm currently playing as England, and after hammering the Scots the Pope went medieval on my ass and booted me out of the God club. Next thing I know, I have dirty foreigners landing on my shores from wierd and far-flung countries. - Sargon_of_Akkad
