Default Rome 2 : Total War

I was searching google and i wonder if anyone can enlighten me whether this is true or not, i did search for this kind of topic before i posted this so i hope its not a repeat.

This is quite old, nearly 2 years ago, so im sure someone will know about it. If its true i never heard about it, and im a really big fan of the roman era and rome total war in general.

Next-Gen interviews Sega’s Scott Steinberg at E3, who inadvertently (or not) lets slip news that Creative Assembly, makers of the popular Total War strategy series, are working on Rome: Total War 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed game that was released back in 2004.

“…We’ve got the Creative Assembly guys doing Medieval and the follow along* to Rome which we haven’t announced yet.”

Of course, by “Medieval” he means the other highly-praised entry in the “Total War” franchise which itself has seen a sequel.

*I of course at first thought this was empires, but how could it be ? the follow on to that was medieval

That interview is from 2007 a month or so before Empire was announced, so it doesn't seem very relevant to the current unless the studio in Australia has already been working on it for two years, but that deviates from their normal production path. Speculation is just speculation though, kinda a waste of time.

Maybe they work on it from before it? maybe it will be the next game announced? it takes time to develop games, so I assume they just started several months before that date and it is still in work.

    Are you kidding?
Their research of the First Rome was utterly torrid.. You take Vanilla Rome and compare it to Europa Barbarum and you'll see what I mean.

ummm....lets see....i highly doubt people will remember CA for Shogun or MTW, but they will be remembered for Rome TW and M2TW....and since everyone seems to really dislike ETW, then its safe to assume RTW and M2TW were their main successes regardless of their lack of historical authenticity

I did say it was 2 years ago - though i was specifically asking whether it was true or not as i havnt heard it before.

Let us not forget though they started on rome during the production time they started on the first medieval game, so it could be they start rome 2 when during production of medieval 2.

or maybe there some big financial conspiracy....they try to get as much money as possible with ETW, NTW, and all the DLCs in order to fund their super powered title Rome 2 TW

if that is so it had better be the greatest strategy game of all time, regardless of the sub genres in strategy games.

If I remember correctly, this was incorrectly interpreted and CA later clarified that it wasn't a Rome sequel they were talking about there. This happened right before a game show (Germany maybe), and a CA staff member started a thread that I'm sure is now buried somewhere stating that it wasn't a Rome sequel and it eventually came out that it was Empire. I'd try to find it to confirm this, but I don't really want to spend all day looking.

It's in reference to Empire. He said that cause it was the same crew doing Empire that did Rome, so it was like, their follow up project.

Well, the good thing about R:TW and M2:TW is that both could be modded to make the games more realistic and historically accurate. However, form what I can tell from E:TW the days of a moddable TW game are long gone.

nonsense, CA is just being stingy with modding tools. When they do i am sure TW on Steam will rival Half Life 2's over abundence of mods (80% never seeing the light of day so the odds are better )
