    Default Testudo...

Since I have Italian roots, I love to play as my ancestors, the Romans.
In the mod they look even more realistic an I'm realy happy with this.
The only thing that bothers me is, why can't they form a testudo?
The testudo is the trademark of any well trained Roman legion, so why can't they form one?

There`s really no point in repeating the arguments that stood behind this decision 4 years ago. If you want it, implement it yourself like this:

There were a few posts on this at the rtr forums made by the original rtrpe devs. The forums are dead now.

Who says the Romans are your ancestors? You might be Etruscan. Or Lucanian. Or Bruttian. Or etc. etc.

    Hmm...
    I've never thought about that.
I think I'm a cross from a Frankish man and a Roman woman.
I doubt the chance that i might be an Etruscan, because the Romans killed them all...
    Ah well, never mind...

Heh, doubtful. One of my buddies did some graduate research on ethnic replacement and he said it usually wasn't. Especially when it comes to women. Even today, when you hear people talking about "ethnic cleansing," they're usually not talking about killing off the women, too.

That's a pretty broad statement. I mean, you could be a red-headed and freckled Slav, an Ainu, Nipponese, an Andaman Islander, or any mixture thereof. Asia's a big place.

So, maybe I can even be a Samnite?
Ah well...I come from the tribes that lived in Italy, that's enough for me

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I've got some Viking in me along with the Greek and Roman, and probably a bit of Moor, too. (I have blue eyes.)

No Greek or Roman in me...

Just Indian, Burmese, Irish, and English!

I'm a real son of the Empire. Rule Britannia!

In a nutshell: the Romans weren't widely using the testudo until well after our time period (if one uses 66 B.C. as the functional end date, which it is in a 4tpy mod), so it's not in there.
