    Default Question regarding stability etc.

    Hello, forum

After playing Europa Barbarorum for almost 3 years, I´m seeking a new RTW challenge and I short-listed Roma Surrectum.
    Thus, I have 3 questions:
    1) How stable is RS? Are there many CTD´s during a campaign?
    2) Can I install RS with the RTW/BI Gold Edition (German version)?
    3) Is RS 1.5c definitely the final version of RS I? I´m not keen on playing many hours only to be confronted with a new patch which is NOT save game compatible…

Thank you in advance for your answers,
    Regards Marcel

    1) Hi, Darkangel. I've played many of the available mods - RS is the only one I've never had a ctd with. It's very stable in my experience.

    2) No trouble installing on my Gold/BI English european edition, you should be o.k.

    3) I'd would think so, with RSII not far away (I hope )

Go for it - I enjoy it a lot. They're a friendly bunch with a sense of humour too - very helpful if you get any problems.

Thank you for your quick response! For me, the only "downer" with RS is the fact that there is no possibility to activate the 4tpy-script. But I think, I can live with that.

The only CTDs in-game are the ones from the original RTW that cannot be removed.

There is the 'reinforce CTD' that still can happen. Basically if you are besieging at settlement and a relief army attacks you if you can't kill all the men from the settlement you are likely to get an errorless repeatible CTD.

The exact cause of the CTD is unknown and has been debated for a while.

There's no real reason why you can't implement the 4tpy screipt yourself. However, it is known to cause problems with traits.

Not true, there are two known CTDs, but both are extremely rare and can be easily avoided.

    1) If you see any peasant units in the slave army auto-resolve
    2) Do not view settlements on the battle map as dacia

OK, I've never encountered those ones before (or heard of them until now).

They're both mentioned in the bug/ctd thread.

As I've not played RS1.5 for twelve months or more (it's been RSII beta or RTR VII FoE beta) I've not kept up with the bugs - I know some have been removed.

I had to look hard to find the thread in the Technical Help sub-forum: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=183701

I've noticed that if I alt-tab to desktop a few times during the session the game's gonna CTD when done with a battle. Usually it's the biggest battle you pulled a heroic victory from in an hours battle (and have to do it again)

That's an RTW problem with memory management nothing to do with RS.

Just wondering, how many CTD did you guys experience while beta-testing RS 2?

I don't think any stats are being kept on that. What is important is will there be any CTDs after RSII is released?

There have been some CTDs but all have been resolved so far.

The RS team are now using a product called SVN/Tortoise which means if there is a problem with the beta it can be rectified quickly or a change rolled back. It also means that changes can be made rapidly - it just needs the beta testers to run an 'SVN Update' prior to running RSII Beta.

The RTR team has been using it for over twelve months.

It's a development tool rather than a way to distribute the final version. I believe it's made the job for the developers easier and no-one has to combine everything in an installer for each release of the beta.

I just had a CTD while in a siege vs. Free peoples in the (modern day) Genoa region. Any ideas? Is there a confirmed CTD of something I possibly did?...im scared to play again.

Okay, I just read that saving your campaign as the same name (example: quick save) can cause potential errors. Where is there a list of what not to do? I saw and changed the auto save preference thing, but apparently there is more i should be aware of when it comes to not doing certain things. Where is this list? Ive looked but haven't found...

Likely it was the reinforcement CTD, was the battle caused by an army coming to relieve the siege and you capturing the settlement?

    Don't autosave & don't quicksave.

No, the CTD occurred right as I knocked down two of their walls, their maingate, and I was sending troops in.
