Using ESFEditor, open an ESF and go to CAMPAIGN_PREOPEN_MAP_INFO / FACTION_INFOS:
1) DOES show start_pos_factions_description_XX
XX is the number or ID of the faction
EX: XX = 35 for Crimean Khanate.
HOWEVER, to EDIT the faction description text... there is an easier way to go about this
2) Use PFM and open any UPC localization... for example, if using DarthMod Empire's UPC... it'll be DME_UPC_v6_3.pack. [Also, for vanilla ETW, localisation_en.pack will work]
Text > localisation.loc
Go to start_pos_factions_description_XX, where XX is the ID of the faction you want to edit the faction description for
Ex: For Crimean Khanate with ID of 35, I'd go to the following entry
start_pos_factions_description_35
Note: The optimal way to figure out faction IDs is by using ESFEDitor and going by METHOD #1. It definitely beats what I did by trial and error, ONLY using METHOD #2 and trying to find out which ID matched which faction lol
Hopefully, using BOTH methods now, it'll be very easy to:
A) find out the ID (35 for CK, 36 for France, for example) of the faction to change the faction description by using ESFEditor to open an ESF file
and then
B) actually changing the text entry using PFM and opening up a UPC localisation pack.
Now, I hope I saved somebody an exercise in stupidity that I've performed of pinpointing Crimean Khanate's ID to 35 by trial and error. DOH! /facepalm
Best, peace
