    Default Increasing the year!

Hey guys, i was just wondering if there is any way to increase the amount of turns per year. Because i find that one turn equaling one year or 1.5 years is a bit much and kinda unrealistic. Like by that logic it takes like 8-10 years to journey from the holy land to Constantinople!

Go to C:/Program Files/Sega/Medieval II Total War/data/world/maps/imperial campaign and find file descr_strat.txt and open it with notepad. Find the line "timescale" and change it to anything you want. For example 0.50 means 2 turns per year and 1.00 1 turn per year. But you cant set it lower than 0.50.

    3. Open the desc_strat.txt file in notepad.
    4. Change the value in front of timescale
It should look like this by default:

    timescale 2.00

The lowest value that works is 0.50, any value lower and the game just treats it as 0.50.

If you just change the timescale, you'll end up with huge cities and citadels hundreds of turns earlier than you should, meaning that for 3/4 of the game, you will have no new units to look forward to. You also need to update the settlement growth rates to keep the game in balance. There are a couple of 2 turns per year submods you may like to check out. Or do a search on this forum as there are several threads about changing population growth rates.

Unless ofcourse you play with RR/RC, where units aren't available untill the historically correct time.

Will it be a massive unbalance if I change it from 2.00 to 1.00 for SS 6.1? By the time musketeers were available to me it was around 1400AD and it was only one city. By that time I only had like 50 turns left so almost no gunpowder battles.

Good idea from 2.00 to 1.00 or not?

Just an FYI, the early campaign is already at 1.5 years per turn. The late era is set to 1 year per turn by default.
