    Default MTW XL Mod

    Medieval: Total War XL

    This is the final version of the XL mod for MTW. I made the mod the way I belive MTW should had been, harder and with more factions.

    Features of version 3.0:
    - New versions of Early, High and Late.
    - New map with 9 new provinces.
    - 17 new factions. Included are: Armenians, Bohemians, Bulgarians, Crusader States, Cumans, Genoese, Hospitaller Order, Irish, Lithuanians, Norwegians, Portuguese, Scots, Serbians, Swedes, Teutonic Knights, Venetians, and Volga Bulgars.
    - The unplayable factions can now be played (Burgundians, Golden Horde, Novgorod and the Papalcy)
    - Lots of new units.
    - Lots of new heroes.
    - Landbriges removed.
    - New Hospital, Bank and Royal bank building added.
    - 3 pagan religious buildings added.
    - Pagan shaman, emissaries, spies and assassins.
    - New unit stats (Units have more correct stats and higher morale. Battles are now much harder and fun!).
    - Improved AI (Build better units, better empire building)
    - New trade structure (The AI can't handle the trade network in the original game, giving the player a big advantage. Trade income has therefore been reduced and farm income increased by 30%).
    - GA mode playable with all factions.
    - New GA and Prebattle shields for all factions.
    - New music (large version only).
    - Old game still playable, but only with the 9 new provinces.
    - Auto-install (very easy install).
    - English and Spanish language.
    - And more!


    MTW - Viking Invasion is needed to play this mod.

    If you have installed another language version of MTW than English and Spanish, then you will need to make some small changes to the game. Copy all the files from loc\eng into the folder loc\"your language" (Backup the old files just in case).

    At the moment, I'm working on a new map. I will allso add more unit, names and remove landbriges in a later version.

    Hi there VikingHorde

    Just for a heads up, your spelling of "Portuguese" is incorrect. I hope that in the mod you got it right... I know that the guys of the NTW mod didn't...

    Sounds like a decent Mod. I'll pin it.

    Btw I have a question: is this for VI expansion V2.00 or for V2.01?(VI patched)

    My MTW that I have worked on is the V2.01 (VI patched), don't know if it works with the "old" version.

    No problem Viking. It seems to have many features that break the monotony for those who have played so many times the good old VI. Gonna try it sometime after I finish my exams.

    so if i play as the papacy, can i excommunicate people? and can i just do it randomly or i haveto wait until two christians are fighting and warn them first? -_-

    no there's no way to excommunicate others when you're playing as the Pope. It is a hardcoded feature.

    By the way talking about patches how do you install them? I mean every time i have tried to install the 2.01 patch it just runs for a minute and does nothing. Like my comp. sounds like its bootin up for a game or somethin.

    And this mod seems like its gonna be a pretty good one.

    As the pope, you can't excommunicate others (hardcoded). They are pretty much like other factions, someone once said though that other faction get excom. if they attack you! Don't know if it's true, have not played the pope yet fulltime.

    The patch is very easy to install, allmost like installing MTW. I don't know what the problem is, but the cd will speed up (just like starting the game).

    I like having pagan factions (lithuanians, Cumans). The cumans have cuman heavy cav. (renamed avar nobles) and steppe heavy's, but it's not fun for them when the golden horde arrive.

    Right now all the stats are the same, but I plan to remake all stats so that the game gets harder. When I get a break from work this sommer, i'll get some real work done. Right now I only have weekends :sad:

    if you play with the papacy u can exuminate others if they attack u i am playing a papacy campiagn now for 2 weeks and i am near the end i kicked the french the germans en the spanish out allready :0! *NTW*

    i've patched VI where do i install it can i install in the medieval total war directory

    if it's worked will it say V2.1 at the main menu
    I am on fire, but an extinguisher is not required.

    Installing the VI patch

    Exampel: I you have installed it in the folder D:\games\medieval - total war, then you should install it in D:\games\.medieval - total war

    If the v2.01 patch is installed, then it will say so in the menu

    Installing the Mod
    Exampel: I you have installed it in the folder D:\games\medieval - total war, then you should install it in D:\games. I made the mod so that it's easy to install.

    Downloaded this mod yesterday and tried it out. It's an excellent mod and has some nice improvements, I have been trying my luck as Lithuanians. *viking*

    So far I haven't encountered any problems, but there is one suggestion that I would like to bring, how about an new strategic agent for the Pagan factions. Other faction have religious agents, perhaps it would even out the playing field if the Pagans would be able to build an religious unit of their own, might be called shaman or druid.

    Im glad you like the mod
    I will maybe add strategic agent in the next version. I just need to find some good pics for them or make some.

    A little update on next mod version.

    The new map is about 80% done now, having added following provinces:
    Scania (southen part of sweden there was danish)
    Estonia (Northen part of Livonia, giving teutonic knights Livonia and the danes Estonia.)
    Algarve (southen part of portugal, now they have something to crusade for)
    Levidia (Southen part of kiev + some of khazar)
    Lesser Khazan (western half of Khazan)
    Great Poland (Poland replaced by Great Poland and Little Poland)

    I have allso started the "unit production", having added Naptha catapults

    The mod is for MTW with VI, so you will need both.
