    Do you Real Recruitment?
If so, then you won't be able to recruit high tier units until the historical (as close as possible to it) date of its use had arrived in-game.

This is the official thread. It lists the dates when units, weapons, buildings, and armor become available.

BTW- chivalric knights are not that great

I think if you've RR/RC then if you haven't the right time for Chivalric Knights neither does the AI...

Some of the rebels have them. Rebels in england always have English knights and armoured swordmen before they are availible. Sometimes when you do a mission you get units before they are availible two, I got 3 units of English knights at my capital once. Not sure if the AI gets similar missions or rewards though?

you shall be able to train them and evryhting when appropriate historical time arrives. The game is more realistic this way, that's all.

Yes, go to your SS data folder (in /Medieval II/mods/Stainless_Steel_6), open export_descr_buildings.txt, then search the unit you want and remove the event behing it.

The reason is because they have Dismounted Noble Knights. SS never removed the Dismounted Chivalric Knights from France, so you can use them in custom battles, but you'll never get to recruit them in the campaign. Besides, most units have heavy armor at that point in the game, which make the Dismounted Noble Knights better. If you're fighting other plate-wearing knights, use the Noble guys.

French Dismounted Chivalric Knights aren't in the EDB. They're only in the custom battles. You'll have to add them like any other unit.

That's why I said: the unit, and not DCK.
