Default New World Order: Total War

Hi everyone. You may know me already as the Monty Python: Total War guy. For this reason, you may ask, "Why are you trying to start another mod?" The answer is that I came up with the concept of this mod while sitting on the thunderbucket. After a little consideration and fleshing out, I decided it would be nice to try a fantasy mod that was serious. I have been writing descriptions for a few mods lately, and have started to gather mod friends, and I hope the concept of this mod will draw more people in. Not only that, but I think the mod might be fun too.

Story Info I decided that I should include more general info about the universe of the mod.

I can't say that there is an equivalent historical time period for the mod: I have pretty much combined Industrial Europe with Medieval and Renaissance Europe. However, there will be no poofy hats and fluffy clothes in this mod. Neither will there be horrifyingly large codpieces (sorry ladies).

Now that I have that confession off my chest, lets get on to more important issues. Each faction is going to have its own goals and ambitions, all of which will be left "morally ambiguous." In other words, the mod will not state one faction is "good" and another is "evil." You can decide that for yourself.

Now then, on to the basic information about "the world." This mod is set in a different "universe" (if you don't udnerstand, look it up on wikipedia) that is occasionally experiencing space-time instability, which resulted in the introduction of certain weapons long before anyone would have thought of inventing them. However, the problem becomes one of getting the weapons to function. Furthermore, weapons aren't the only objects appearing due to insatiability. Some of the objects will have a purely philosophical purpose. Some have no purpose at all. The mod will only deal with the "important" objects that drift in. Also, these events are extremely rare.

Less rare are relics from "the world's" past. Still, most of history has been left blank due to mysterious events in the past. What little is known details the strife filled past of the world. Throughout the mod, you will receive notifications regarding the discovery of pieces of history or new objects that have appeared (however, if you aren't a fan of the story, but enjoy the gameplay, then you can just skip the "irrelevant" ones).

Mod Info My favorite part about this mod, is that its sort "parallel/alternate" universe mod. It takes pieces of various time periods (mainly industrialization and medieval), and slams them together. In this universe, there are several huge powers based on real life nations from the past (for more detail, see below). In addition, events will take place that reveal more about the story/universe. Occasionally, new weapons of terrible power will be invented or "discovered."

The map used will be mostly the same as vanilla, except with a few minor changes. The factions included will be:
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Union of Greater (England, Ireland, Soctland, etc.) and Lesser Britannia (France)

Greater and Lesser Britannia Have had a long history of warfare. Culturally, Greater and lesser Britannia emphasize the importance of honor and chivalry. Combat is not a pleasure to enjoy, but a duty to be done. Recently, Greater Brittannian culture has shifted towards the goal of bringing True Order to the world. True Order, is a recent fad among the philosophers that states that Britannia is duty bound to control the world, and bring it justice. According to the Doctrine of True Order, Britannia is only nation that understands the true nature justice and protection. Though Britannia's knights may seem old fashioned, they are still capable warriors, and their longbowmen are second to none. The Union is ruled by only one monarch, the King of Britannia. His oldest son, and successor, is given the title Prince of Lesser Britannia [think prince of wales].

Strengths: Powerful knights and determined infantry.
    Weaknesses: Relatively outdated troops.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Thousand-Year Reich (essentially Central and Eastern Europe)

The Thousand-Year Reich originated from 200-year old union known as the Central States. Wedged firmly in between Lesser Britannia and the Kievan Empire, the Central States served as a constant battleground for the two powers. When the Central States attempted to use force to stop the two powers, its fledgling armies proved to be no match for the enemies of the States. Finally, when the Kievan Empire and Britannia were once again preparing for war exactly 201 years ago, fate seemed to favor the Central States. A new charismatic figure emerged to unite all the peoples of the Central States. This man, known only by his chosen title Fuhrer, brought with him a new weapon, one that would forever change the face of warfare. This weapon was gunpowder, and when it was used in combat, it gave the troops of the Central states an undeniable advantage. When the war was over, the Central States had made enormous territorial gains, particularly to the east. The Fuhrer pronounced the Thousand-Year Reich, and established its militaristic principles as well as its capital, Germania. Since then, there have been many Fuhrers, and each one has been selected for their talents on the battlefield.

Strengths: Has the most advanced gunnery options and eventually, tanks.
Weaknesses: Few types of close combat troops. Troops are expensive.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Shogunate of the Rising Sun (Japan [region not in-game] with isolated European and north African colonies)

The Shogunate of the Rising Sun is the largest empire in the world. In fact, the Shogunate has recently acquired new lands in Europa. However, along with power, the Supreme Shogun has earned enemies. The Europeans will not tolerate the loss of their lands long. The Nordic federation is furious over the loss of its northern territories, and the Kingdom of Heaven will not wait long before it attempts to retake the Iberian provinces it has lost. Dissent also grows within the ranks of the Shogun's armies. Many of the lesser Shoguns believe that subjugating Europa is of the utmost importance. However, the Supreme Shogun has been showing signs of doubt about expansion. Should he fail to gain supremacy in Europa, he will be dubbed a coward, and it is certain that most of the lesser Shoguns will revolt against his rule. If this should happen, then the Shogunate will lose control of its territories, and descend into darkness. Therefore, the Supreme Shogun must use his enormous army to overwhelm Europa, and secure the the continued existence of the Shogunate of the Rising Sun.

Strengths: Most powerful ship in game: the Steam Dragon Warship. Numerous troops.
Weaknesses: Colonies are isolated from one another. Elite troops take extremely long to train. Weak basic troops.

    Flag/Symbol:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Baghdad Sultanate (Anatolia and most of the middle East)

Strengths: Excellent hit and run troops. Rich.
Weaknesses: Few troops suitable for prolonged engagements.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Kingdom of Heaven (Italy, Palestine, Mediterranean Islands, and parts of Syria)

The Kingdom of Heaven is a highly militaristic nation that has managed to maintain a hold on military technology second only to the Thousand-Year Reich. However, in recent years, its military reputation has declined slightly. The recent humiliating defeat in Spain at the hand of the Shogunate has been a significant blow to the Kingdom, and these Eastern pagans can not be allowed to hold such a precious possession. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to deal with the Shogunate's Colonial Army. Once this is done, steps should be taken against the blasphemers in Europe. Italy, and Rome in particular, is highly coveted for its wealth and symbolic value. Though the armies of the Kingdom are small, there are no finer troops to be found. They are well equipped, and prepared to lay down their lives. The Kingdom's alliance with the Baghdad sultanate should also prove to be useful once action is taken. Furthermore, the Kingdom is one of the few nations capable of producing the new "flamethrower," a terrible weapon to behold on the battlefield. With proper guidance, and divine providence, the Kingdom of Heaven can prosper, and perhaps even bring order to the huddled masses of the world.

Strengths: Exceptionally powerful cavalry and infantry. Troops are highly devoted.
Weaknesses: Reserves take a long time to replenish. Expensive troops.

    Flag/Symbol:

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Nordic Federation (Norway, Sweden, and Iceland)

    Strengths: Balanced variety of troops.
    Weaknesses: Few Elite troops.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Kievan Empire (Russia, Georgia, and the Crimea)

Strengths: Specialized troops are outstanding against certain unit types.
Weaknesses: No multipurpose troops. Troops generally receive poor armor.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Each faction will have its own special weaponry and troops types. Some armies will be more powerful and advanced, while others will win through determination and creativity. Guns will be featured alongside swords and bows. I have given some of the factions descriptions. All of them have Strengths/Weaknesses listed.

Some of the factions will use revised models or retextured vanilla units.

In short, this mod needs coders, skinners, modelers, and mappers, animators (not totally necessary, just want a breach-loading animation), and 2-d artists. It is a total (or at least more than partial) conversion. If anyone wants more info on joining, or on the mod in general, just pm me anytime.

I think you should first place those factions on the map and see how it looks. Especially if you're going all the way to Japan. And after that you can determine whether the mod is plausible or not.

The region of Japan isn't featured in-game. You play as the colonial forces of the Shogunate which have managed to gain a foothold in Europe. I'll put the description of the faction in soon, so that it becomes clear why the Shogunate's colonial wars are important to its politics.

I might use the Big Europa map, and several units will be based off of Vanilla, but the Thousand Year Reich in particular will need new models.
