    Default Looking for the best.

Okay, so while waiting for Roma Surrectum II to be released, I painfully decided to reinstall MTWII and Kingdoms. As I love what the RS team has done with the Rome engine, I am looking for something similar here.

Is there an historically accurate mod for MTWII that also adds graphics, better gameplay systems, all without slowing down the load time? Is this mod it?

    Any help would be appreciated.

EDIT: Also, what do the games have to be patched to in order to get this mod to work?

EDIT2: Does this mod overwrite the core game?

It's unquestionably a good mod, I didn't download any patches but I have Gold Edition. It doesn't overwrite anything.

Thank you. I have the separate games, so I think I may need to patch Kingdoms to 1.05. Is that the most updated version?

SS6.1 with kingdoms is awesome, install the RR\RC\SS6.2 compilation of sub mods, and its more awesome, because that way its more historically accurate, as it has a far more realistic recruiting system, masterfully depicting the differences between feudal, early professional, late professional, militia etc, etc units both on the campaign and on the battlefield. by the way, I am waiting for RS2 also.

Though they sweep over our lands like the sands of winter, never again will we bow before them; never again endure their oppression; never again endure their tyranny. We will strike without warning and without mercy, fighting as one hand, one heart, one soul. We will shatter their dreams and haunt their nightmares, drenching our ancestors' graves with their blood. And as our last breath tears at their lungs; as we rise again from the ruins of our cities...they will know: Helghan belongs to the Helghast." -Scholar Visari

Sounds great. What is the order of install/extraction procedures? What I mean is, do I install 6.1, then RR\RC\SS6.2? Do I extract them to the desktop and then hope the .rar finds the right files?

Also, I am waiting for the release of the Codex featuring the man in your avatar.

Welcome to SS, which combined with the Real Recruitment/Real Combat mini-mod I would call the most historically accurate (not to mention downright fun) Medieval 2 mod around!

Does the 6.2 patch include the RR/RC stuff? Or are those in separate locations?

    SS6 part 1
    SS6 part 2
    SS6.1 all options NOT ticked
    some patch for 6.1 I can't recall (I think)
    RR\RC\SS6.2 Full Install April 8th
    April 23rd update patch

I'm pretty sure there are instructions in the RR\RC compilation thread. It's in the sub-mods sub board.
Be warned, it's AWESOME, but a bit buggy.

Okay, so I loaded it up, and it started. Beautifuly opening sequence, love the music. Then I get to the "choose faction" part of the campaign. I'm reading through the different factions, just to see what I like best, and examining which piece of land they start with. After I go through 6 or 7 of them, the game locks out and I end up back in Windows. Usually when I click on Poland, or one of the nations on the right hand side of the list of factions.

Such as it is, I haven't been able to start a campaign.

    Note:

-Do not tell me to uninstall and reinstall, as I've now done that for many, many hours.
-My hardware is fully capable of running the game, and I use Windows XP.

Any help would be appreciated. Is this normal?

That is an unfixable bug with M2TW. Just choose the faction you want and start the game.

Actually it is fixable, but I can't remember how right of the top of my head. Man I'm getting old. Several mods you can click on as many factions as you like and no crash. We also fixed it early on in beta testing Road To Jerusalem. I think Sinople did it. I know Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod doesn't crash.....I can ask around or look through my notes when I get home if anyone is interested.

Do those mods have multiple campaigns though?

Road To Jerusalem does. Will check I may be mistaken about the multiple campaigns being fixable. I thought we got it fixed............

Thanks. I would appreciate any help, though I will likely just start it up and check each faction until I've eventually read through them all.

How do I modify the unit sizes? I know how to do it in Rome, but I can't seem to locate the same files in M2TW.

There also some issues with early campaign -> back -> late campaign -> start and CTD.
Same thing goes for custom battle -> campaign.

ya, you just have to accept the problems with the menu, but it will work, you just can look around too much as to unit sizes, they are in game options rather than video options
oh, and you can play with or without the kingdoms 1.5 patch

If you don't know which faction you'd like to play, then I would redirect you to the Royal Military Academy. The gentlemen there documented all the factions and their features and units and buildings, etc etc etc. So you can browse there and after that, start up the game, choose the faction you want, and not deal with the CTDs.
