Cant play the game

Hi im new to this forum and RTR. a few months ago started to play RTW again. Now ive completed 2 faction campains and getting kinda bored so i looked up some mods for RTW. RTR was one of the biggest 1 so i downloaded it and installed it and all, I dont think i made anything wrong and my RTW is 1.5 and BI is 1.6.
After i installed it i started it and looked if it workd. The intro came and went to menu so I thougt evrything was alright. I went to custum battle and after i choosed all theunits i pressed Play button. Thne screen just went black i waited for a 1-2 mins and i couldent get the window down either so i used the sleep button on keyboard. When i started the computer again i logged in and it was completly stuck. so i shut down my computer and restarted, opened RTR did the same thingand the same thing happend again. I went to campain and started a campain,screen went black direclty after i started so please someone help me out.

Welcome to the forum!

I've never heard of this problem before. What version of Windows are you using? Also, try using the show_err command in your RTR shortcut.

Oh, and which version of RTR are you using?

I am using windows XP pro, and im usin RTR 1.9, i downloded it from main page

Maybe i should uninstall RTR and RTW and do it all from the begining?
If so tell me how cause i dont seem to find any uninstall file to RTR.
Also RTW doesnt work, when i start the RTW .exe RTR starts
RTW BI doesnt work either it gets an error at start :Cant load mount data base

Since i installed RTR Platinum my whole RTW directory is messed up. Someone please help me

What exactly do you mean by 'messed up'?

I dont think there is any uninstall file for RTR...you just have to delete the whole folder to remove it. A re-install might be best. I've never come across this myself. I would imagine all you would have to do is install RTW and BI as per normal, making sure they are all patched fully. Then install RTR as per usual making sure it goes into the right directory and all that and see what happens.

With what? Messed up how? Do you want me to take a guess of what that means or could you describe it yourself?
There`s nothing I can think of related to this mod or any other tbh that could cause what you describe in the first post. Hence the lack of any solution posted by anyone so far. It sounds more like some sort of driver issue or hardware problem even.

I dont think there is any uninstall file for RTR...you just have to delete the whole folder to remove it.

He didn`t say what version of rtrpe he has. I.e. the simple one or the mod switch one. The former overwrites the game`s files so you can only play rtrpe, not vanilla rtw or bi anymore. You can only uninstall this by uninstalling the whole game. If he has the latter that`s easier to remove because it installs in its own sub-folder and should be able to remove that manually if need be.

ok so i only have to uninstall RTW and RTR gets uninstalled by itself? Thanks for you tips i will now uninstall RTW and reinstall (gotta do it anyway non of the .exe files works properly)

you manually have to delete the RTR files left over after the uninstall of RTW. otherwise you can run into problems when re-installing. i advise you use the modswitch version, as it doesn't "mess up" any of your original install and you'll still be able to play vanilla RTW ...

i did that, when i uninstalled RTW i searched for the key names on all file search : Rome:total war, RTW ,Rome total realism ,RTR
The only result was the RTW soundtrack witch ive had on my computer. So i think all the files are gone now when i will reinstall

Sounds promising. Make sure you upgrade your base installation properly (I keep a spare base installation sitting around just so I don't have to worry about that...I wasn't doing anything with those gigs, anyway.

), and then have at it.

Also, make sure you download the mod switch version. It'll make your life easier in the long run.
