For me it's a close call but Dio just edges in for the win. His voice is so powerful and just generally amazing.

I like Dio better. As a singer and as a person.

Ozzy is of course part of the legendary Black Sabbath from the early years that formed heavy metal.

But I do not really like Ozzy. So I never vote for him.

Dio's the better singer, but I prefer Ozzy and early Sabbath, so Ozzy.

I prefer Ozzy, his vocals are more gloomy and doom like, Dio's epic vocalizations are not my cup of tea, however he's a great singer(way better than Ozzy)

Without the bat thing with ozzy, it woudl have been easy. I'm going with Dio though.

Ozzy was good at making the best skillful use out of his otherwise lame voice, but Dio had a gift.

Ozzy Sabbath was the best Sabbath.

I like Dio, but I MUCH prefer him in Rainbow than Black Sabbath.

Ozzy. To me, it's not even a question. I'm talking about his influence AND support of other musicians.
As a singer Dio is better, but that's not enough. Not enough...

Without Ozzy, Sabbath wouldn't have been Sabbath.

I'm not talking about exclusively black sabbath.

Ozzy is more influential, Dio is just a far better performer than ozzy.... Ozzy also has a fairly monotonous voice, especially compared to Dio. Also Dio is a great improviser.

This last song should definitely give evidence to Dios awesomeness.

Sure there is no sabbath without Ozzy. However I think that is the only argument FOR Ozzy other than Ozzfest.

I recently saw Heaven and Hell in a trip back to Chicago, it was a great concert. They however only played Dio sabbath at that.

I like Dio, but I MUCH prefer him in Rainbow than Black Sabbath.
He had GREAT songs in the Sabbath era, its just that people don't think its as great since back in the day he played Ozzy songs live which weren't written for him as a singer. Dio sucks at most ozzy songs, however his Children of the Grave is awesome. Unfortunately I can't find any old sabbath era dio clips, only from the heaven and hell modern version of the band.

We should make a post comparing Bruce Dickenson, Dio, Ozzy, and Rob Halford more than just Ozzy vs Dio. It will always come down to Black Sabbath and since edit: Ozzy was in the band at creation and they are cemented as awesome and metal gods you can't really compare Dio to him when just concerning that band.
