Default Influence and other traits goes down with the Senate

Hi all. I have just tried the RTR mod for Rome total war, and all I can say is that it's really awesome! I'm a big fan of world history, and I really hate historical fallacies. But somehow, I noticed that the Roman faction is not ... well err... Roman enough, y know wat i mean? Well, the Senate is a big factor for the Roman Republic/Empire, and it's what differentiates the Roman Faction with other factions. I don't want the old Senate, where they have their own faction and army, but somehow, please make use of the character's "influence" and other character traits that bolsters the character's status in the Senate. I recommend that the Senate be part again of the Roman Faction, not to the sense that you give them back their own faction. Something like... it elects officials from your roster of characters, with your Faction leader as the Consul. The higher the Influence (with the help of other traits), the higher the character's rank in the Senate. But the Senate won't annoy the player anymore with tasks and missions. Its for the sake of making use of "Influence", and for making the Roman Faction more Roman.

    thanks..

Hit the nail on the head.

There really is a limited scope for adding things like this to the game. Either the senate becomes another faction, or it isn't there at all.
    Whatcha' wearing?

Marcus Camillus has a mini-mod for RTRPE that adds a leadership system for the romans so that you sorta have consuls and other officials via traits and ancillaries, but obviously not in the manner of the vanilla senate which is still gone. Very few mods have kept the four roman factions because they`re not really historical in the manner in which they operate in vanilla and because those faction slots could be used by other non roman factions. But I give you that, the vanilla system was very fun. I think Casus Belli still has the four roman factions, but it`s only in italian. Res Gestae also has the four roman faction.

I wish there were a Roman Republic faction that controls the cities of Italy and an S.P.Q.R. faction that controls Rome. The whole "march on Rome" aspect of vanilla was completely historical, and I wish it wasn't removed. The Senate really did have control of Rome, as they were the head legislative body of the Republic. I don't mind about the positions and such, but I believe having the Senate faction back would greatly enhance RTR's playability as the Romans, if not every faction.

The Republic of Rome, as it sounds to be a whole gouverment body, has actually never existed, untill the roman-italic war, followed by the civil war, wich led to the fall of the republic and changed it step by step into an empire.
One of the factions, if one would recreate the variety of the roman republic, should be "Italics", wich havenīt been fully integrated (given full citizenship etc. ) untill the above mentioned conflict. They could perfectly act as the counterfaction for SPQR, instead of having some Rebel settlements in Italy, and play an important role in the Second Punic war, since it was the actual plan of Hannibal to divide Romans from their affiliates and force them to surrender/sign a new peace treaty, more comfortable for the Carthaginians. As counterfaction, they would inherit the roman settlements wich rebel, and make it even more difficult for the Romans to take them back.
From what iīve seen till now EB has the best representation of the roman families through introduction of so called "gens", representing plenty of (known ) plebeyan and patrician families, and tieding them to the senatorial offices, while at the same time deviding those FM into popularis and optimas ( traits, wich have influence at aquireing of some offices and the Marian Reform event, triggered there by script ).

Indeed, would it be possible to integrate a system like this in rtr?

For some one with very good skills on traits and ancillaries - sure
But this would need quite a bunch of time and a concept, wich suites RTR, since traits and ancillaries in EB are heavily combined with scripted events.
Generaly: EB uses a lot of scripting ( donīt ask me how exactly, though ), while RTR prefers to use as few as possible to achieve a suitable game experience for the players.

Well that counts me out then.
My knowledge of modding is very basic indeed.

    So uh,… any volunteers?
