Default How long does it usually take you guys to end 1 turn?

I try to be really in-depth with my turns, but about 20 years into it it gets harder and harder and I just fizzle outta doing that. I try everytime though. I think I'm going to have to start writing stuff down so I can keep track of what the heck is going on...

For me, it's like 10 mins a turn, maybe more, maybe less, but not by much.
"So parents...hold on to your hats...the federal government is gonna give you 400 dollars for every child you have...so if you've got 1,000 kids...you're on freaking easy street. That's where you go, what is the government thinking? I mean wha, what do Congressmans' children eat -- MITES?!? All 400 dollars does is remind me how screwed I am; You'd be better off if you're Congressman just came to your door, and pissed on your foot."

Depends what needs to be done, generaly speaking if there are no battles that need doing about 5 - 10 mins longer if i choose to do battle, allthough sometimes even shorther than 5 mins.

After I get rich enough I'll just queue up loads of buildings in specific orders depending on what city it is. Then I'll concentrate on military. It's probably not too wise and I still can't stop checking every city before pressing end turn but whatever. Probably about 2-5 minutes per turn unless I do a battle. Depends on how big my faction is and whether or not I'm at war or gearing up for something.

My longest turn (excluding battles) was 3 hours. Around 7 hours battle included.

Usually I take around 5 mins at the start, but when I've got myself an empire I spend around 20 min to half an hour on each turn.

I can take pretty long in a single turn. If you exclude battles, 5-10 minutes

2-10 minutes, which is checking the cities, ordering construction or/and recruitment, sending spies, dipolomats etc. (normal activities, you'd say). If you add the battles, than the time needed to finish a turn rises up to even 2 hours.

Well, the longer my campaign goes on, the longer I take to finish a turn as I pay far more attention to what's going on in whatever settlement and how my ever-increasing list of characters is developing. Sucked into it all big time. Of course being bounced two or three times a turn by enemy armies ups the battle times during the a.i. turn, too. Up to an hour or more if it gets hectic on the frontiers.

I have the same predicament - early on everything is fine and can be managed in a short period of time.
At the end of capturing all of Italy it becomes harder and harder. I tried to follow a certain building pattern to simplify city managements. I check every city before pushing the turn button.

Time required (without battles): At the beginning 5 Min., with Italy about 8 to 10 Min., later 20 to 30 Min.

Later on replacing Roman troops in new territories can became extremely tedious. At this time I usually start a new campaign.

And there's the rub! At some point it becomes very time consuming, but I guess this is the same problem with all mods. I think even with RTW, MTW and MTW2 vanilla versions I only ever finished 2 campaigns because in the end it became too long-winded.

I have my main Rome campaign right now which is getting big but I'm determined to finish it - though if RSII is released beforehand... now there's a dilemma!

    OK, not really!!

    Start anew with RS II

Yeah, basically if you keep on making more and more armies, you can actually find your empire expanding in a somewhat exponential fashion. I remember taking 4 settlements from macedon in a single turn because I just happened to have that many stacks.

A turn can take several hours if there are many battles to fight. Even taking a town will require some time to walk to the square etc. And the AI, of course, will have many stacks around. Macedon sure had a few, though I am glad that the royal pikemen in them disappeared when Macedon was destroyed and they turned into rebel stacks.

Of course, I'm turning nearly every town that has iron into a foundry + Hephaestus (and maybe later on a Ludus Magna) town, just so I can spam even more stacks at will.

What stuff do you write down? Just like the stuff I described?

I write down troop locations, redeployment coordinates, family member positions and where they should be. Stuff like where troops are being trained/retrained and where to rally them, where there is a chance of rebellion, what was built where and where the enemy formations might be.

Drawing out a quick diagram of how a battle went is also kinda cool to do.

Once you got all the essential, and basic stuff you can switch to automanage development for cities. On the fronteer i build the essentials first, then I set the automanage to build cultural buildings, the homelands are my economic automanaged cities, the territories that are near the fronteer are set for military buildings. this helps me keep the order I require. But still in total I spend 20-30 minutes on the campaign map menouvering armies, looking for lost agents, and checking up on cities.

Here's something that might help you cut down on your time spent per turn on the campaign map. Write down a list of objectives. That way you wont have to worry much about lost armies, diplomats, navies, and the like. so In a way YOU are similar to the Senate in RTW Vanilla, or like the Councel of Nobels in M2TW, only you don't get the nice little money or units reward that they give out. But in as large a scale of a mod like this you need organization otherwise you're going to loose track of armies, navies, diplomats, and even cities. Hell once I lost a series of cities because I forgot about them for 20 turns. Only once they started to riot did I remember that they existed.

days. Eventually I just want to end the turn without doing some things, just because I'm tired and want those five new armies trained and ready to be deployed against my enemies or that blacksmith or epic temple or that last government building or that city captured from siege. But then again, maybe ending the turn wihtout doing all you coudl do is part of the realism, as an empire wouldn't be able to be run nearly as efficiently as yours is, even in its army movements.
