Question about alternate weapons

Hey, firstly I'd like to say this mod is astounding. Totally brings the game to a new level. I just started playing it yesterday and have a quick question about hoplites with alternate weapons. For example, Athenian Hoplites have their spear and sword. Is there a way to tell them which weapon to use? So far if I tell them to charge an enemy, they'll charge with their spears then switch to swords by themselves, where as with cavalry they only do that if you alt+charge. Are swords more effective against a certain type and is there a way to tell them what to use like with cavalry?

I've done a bit of searching and couldn't find anything.

That annoys me with Byzantines... they barely ever use their spear, only swords

well first off, the charging never quite works the way you want it to. i'm surprised they're using spears to charge, my triarii won't stop charging with swords (even though they switch to spears afterwards), it's a glitch. however, whilst already in melee, you can hold the ALT key to alternate between weapons. it's just charging that's a little fidgety.

as a general rule of thumb, spears receive a bonus against cavalry, and correct me if i'm wrong but swords are better for fighting infantry.
