Default Historical Settlement Project - Compile your Creations here.

    Greetings, friends of the Mod!

I've seen several new threads popping up by everyone, especially romy, filling up our precious forums with excellent battle-editor ideas for cities. Let's not get ahead of ourselves and fill up the entire forum with Jerusalem, Tripoli, Venice, Rome, Prague, etc. We must all be focused, members of the Mod and you civilians who are helping us.

Post your custom cities here, and try to keep yourself down to one post. This way, you can edit your post to create new sections within it and keep everything orderly. If this is done properly and all you map editors put your ideas in one easily archived post per map-maker, we can keep it structured nicely.

Thus far, we have ideas from Romy, DerÄrzteFan, and Retep219. Each of you should collaborate with each other and Resurrection (Captain of the Cartographers ) to be sure no unique cities are repeated and precious time lost. As of 9/17/09, we have three most Honourable, Venerable, and Talented archives:

Romy: Granada, Iberia - Mecca, Arabia - Köln, Holy Roman Empire - Venice
    DerÄrzteFan: Jerusalem
    Retep219: Ṭarābulus, County of Tripoli/Lebanon

Also, here is the thread made by Sutman if you have any city or historical data for custom cities to input (just incase):

    EDIT: Thanks Thomas, Hross

    It's Tripoli in Lebanon. Ṭarābulus.

I chose that city because I didn't want anything too ambitious, because I had been there(once), and because I found these sites:

    http://www.tripoli-lebanon.com/maps.html
    http://tripoli-city.org/maps1.html

I hardly followed them to the letter, but they were a good inspiration.

Actually, I meant for you to post your pictures, screen-shots, etc. of your work. Those maps and helpful street graphs would be more suited to Sutman's thread than this one.

I just posted for clarification. I've already got a thread on Tripoli (You were an hour too late, lol...), but if I make another city, I will post it here.

(Speaking of other cities, ideas are VERY welcome. And probably not just for me.)

EDIT: Well, now that HSP has its own department, I suppose I'll just create threads there...

Indeed, which is why i changed it already.

The map is not quite up to date, we have just finalised all of our cities so it should be updated shortly.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

    Can't wait!

I just hope that producing some sort of quality map preview won't be counter-productive, given the amount of work

PS. Perhaps you could preview it in chunks?

Would be interesting to first see British Isles along with some cultural background or whatever you deem important (that way we get to see what you've researched ; and yes, I do read this stuff, even lengthy EBII previews). Then of course we could see Iberian and Italian Peninsula, Western and Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Steppes, Middle East etc.

Though, whatever kind of preview you will make I will appreciate it!

By the way, what should I be creating next? Should I be working on the huge cities, or do you have other priorities now?

Should I post my finished cities in this thread or create a new thread for each city?

To be honest, settlements are not on our to-do-list right now, which could change however if the PSF testing proved true. In the meantime you could model special landscapes or places you like or want to see later in a DotS battle. For example you could start in Britain if you want: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=342317
