Default What if the RS 2 team is able to add in a tech tree into RS 2?

If the RTW game engine has the additional feature of a tech tree like what we have seen in ETW, how would the team make use of it?

Sorry, what do you mean by that? I haven't really paid any attention to ETW at all.

For example, being able to do research better weapons, new fighting techniques and etc.

You advance in technology without the need for a "tech tree" in RSII.

If you mean having buildings or 'technology' affect what formations or abilities units have in battle then no, that is not possible in RTW.

I know, but I'm simply saying what happen if such a thing is included in the RTW.exe? Given the fact that R2TW might make use of this feature.

Basically, a bigger shipyard does not mean you would have better sea units, just that you are able to construct bigger sea units as well as more ships at the same time.

Whereas if you have a tech tree, you can very well have a much better improvement to your ships, such as faster speed and etc.

Kinda like how you are actually able to choose when you want to research on the Marian reforms instead of relying on building a Imperial Palace to do so. Or in many cases, you get the research on the type of weapons and armour being worn by the Roman troops, reducing the cost to manufacture them and all that.

Or even researching on shield wall techniques that wasn't used by the Romans until a much later period in time.

I don't really understand what you're asking. Are you asking that if in theory there was that ability, what would be the result?

New technology for buildings, like new ways of trading and new ships would be cool to research.

That's what I mean. Going on a line from port, shipwright, dockyards, etc. is a kind of technological advancement. There's not much need for ETW's ways.

I would rather have a teach tree inside each building. Let say that you click on the harbor, there you get to upgrade all the sea upgrades. In the barrack all the military etc etc.

I suppose the result would be a more similar game interface and engine to that of ETW...there would undoubtedly be some advantages with being able to adjust things like that.

I am content with what we have however.
