    Default Mongols Religion change...

    (I've searched the forums for guidance but no dice, and the pagan mongol mod links are dead.)


    I have a question for thee wise ones:

    I've changed Mongols to pagan in my game and I want mongols to use the tengir temples (same as the cumans) so that they have access to pagan priests.

    But when I give them access, the description of the building shows up as the "do_not_translate" warning and their priests are 'imams' instead of pagan ones.

    Here is what I've done so far:

    sm_factions : changed islam to pagan
    descr_region : changed the mongol starting cities to majority pagan religion
    descr_faction_standing : swapped mongols to pagan triggers (alongside the cumans and lithuania)
    export_buildings : added mongols to tengir temple buildings
    descr_strat : removed islamic buildings added tengir temple for mongol capital

    My questions are:
    1.How do I get the proper description??
    2.How do I get pagan priests instead of imams?
    3.Is there anything else I need to do?

    1. Search for Tengir temples in export_buildings, something like c_tengir_temple_islam. You'll find some 'do not translate text' simply copy and paste the text from the appropriate Cuman/Lithuanian sections and you're done on that front.

    2. If you're talking about the description in the building section, there's nothing you can do about - they're called Imams because they're linked to the culture and not the religion. Unfortunately there is no unique 'steppe' culture, so you'd have to create your own. If you mean you have Imams on the stratmap, you need to change their skin in descr_character and descr_strat_model and use the pagan priest skin supplied via the Pagan Mongols mod.

    3. You could just wait until the next RR/RC patch as it also contains Pagan Mongols

    The only other sections are

    eastern_european (which cumans use)
    greek
    mesoamerican
    middle_eastern
    northern_european
    southern_european

    I tried pasting into the undefined tengir temple section (with no culture) but it does not work. Which of these ones will?

    Also: In the descr_strat.txt, Mongols are listed as "ai_label mongol". I tried changing this to pagan but nothing happened. Should I leave it as Mongol? (does this affect the script or what?)

    It's middle_eastern; as I said, the Mongols are classed as a Middle Eastern culture.

    Added tengir temple for mongol capital, changed skin in the two files.

    I don't understand; are you saying

    a)now that you've changed the skins, you can no longer recruit pagan priests?
    b)the unit pool isn't filling up?

    Also: In the descr_strat.txt, Mongols are listed as "ai_label mongol". I tried changing this to pagan but nothing happened. Should I leave it as Mongol? (does this affect the script or what?)
    I really haven't a clue about that. The only things I did in descr_strat was remove all references to Islam for the Mongols and replace with Pagan.

    A. Can no longer recruit priests since changing skins. Temple is in the city and text now appears properly and says I can recruit priests. But no icon for them in recruitment roster.

    You can attach files by going advanced reply then clicking the paperclip symbol at the top (same row as the fonts and sizes etc).

    wow this is really intresting, please post if you manage to get it done in the end because ive always wanted to convert ireland, scotland, denmark and norway to paganism

    (and i know it isnt "historically acurate... but i dare anyone to say it wouldnt be intresting )

    I had somehow made a mistake in the descr_character.txt

    Mongol priests working and Mongols now pagan....EXcellllent..

    I'll amend my first post in this thread to instruct how to do it tomorrow, for anyone who wants pagan mongols with priests.

    I would upload the files but I have modded the hell out of my SS copy so they wouldn't be compatible or would add a lot of other changes to your game you may not want.

    Mongols no want the world 100% pagan,they are tolerants^^.Like the turcs before the conversion to Islam.The Il-khans like the Kypchaq Ulus(golden hord) are globaly tolerants,they are muslim fanatics with the "turkisation".Like Timur Leng.
